Nunez ready to leave Liverpool

Darwin Nunez wants to leave Liverpool this summer to seek more playing time, with the 2026 World Cup less than a year away.

According to The Guardian , Nunez is ready to accept a transfer offer from a top European club this summer. The Uruguayan striker has accepted the fact that he is no longer an important player at Anfield.

With Liverpool set to sign Florian Wirtz for around £115m, Nunez’s chances of starting next season will be even slimmer. Since joining Anfield from Benfica in 2022 for a record fee of £85m, Nunez has failed to live up to expectations.

The 25-year-old has scored just 40 goals in three seasons at Liverpool. Manager Arne Slot is also willing to let Nunez go, in order to raise transfer funds and bring in new players. Napoli see Nunez as their top target and the Uruguayan is also interested in joining the Serie A champions.

Corriere dello Sport says Liverpool have offered £50m to any club interested in signing Nunez. Nunez's contract at Anfield runs until June 2028. La Repubblica says Conte is particularly enamoured with Nunez, and that negotiations between Napoli and Liverpool have already begun.

Coach Antonio Conte wants to strengthen his squad after winning the Scudetto. Napoli's board also supports Conte's plan in the transfer market, which is to recruit a new striker and a new winger.
