Female credit officer arrested after 28 years in hiding, changing name

Ha Tinh Provincial Police have just arrested Tran Thi Dung (58 years old, residing in Huong Thuy Commune, Huong Khe District) for the crime of Embezzlement of socialist property.

According to authorities, Dung used to be a bank credit officer in Thach Ha district (Ha Tinh).

From January to September 1995, Dung established 20 contracts in her name and others' to embezzle more than 190 million VND. The female bank credit officer then fled.

In early October 1995, Thach Ha District Police prosecuted Tran Thi Dung for embezzlement and issued a wanted notice for her. The case file was then transferred to the Economic Police Department of Ha Tinh Police for further investigation.

In mid-June, Ha Tinh Police coordinated with Vinh City Police ( Nghe An Province) to verify information and discovered that a woman named Tran Thi Bich Thao (53 years old, residing in Quang Trung Ward, Vinh City) was wanted suspect Tran Thi Dung, so she was arrested.

The female defendant later admitted to changing her name and hiding for more than 28 years to avoid being wanted by the police.
