Revealed two valedictorians of grade 10 in Ho Chi Minh City, both achieved perfect scores in Math

They are contestants Lu Tran Quynh Lan, a student at Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Thu Duc City and Nguyen Minh Thu, a student at Pham Van Chieu Secondary School, Go Vap District.

Specifically, Lu Tran Quynh Lan scored 10 points in Math, 9.25 points in Literature, 9.5 points in English and 7 points in the specialized subject Math. Meanwhile, Nguyen Minh Thu achieved perfect scores in Math and English, achieving 8.75 points in Literature and 4.25 points in the specialized subject.

This year, in the 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City, 36 candidates achieved perfect scores in Math. About 63.3% of the test scores were above average, with a common score of 7 achieved by more than 4,500 students. However, this exam also recorded more than 28,000 candidates with scores below 5, accounting for about 36.7%.

In Literature, the score range is concentrated in the range of 5-7.5, similar to last year, with two exams scoring 9.5. From 9 points and above, 203 candidates achieved. The most achieved mark was 7 with nearly 6,000 exams. About 15% of exams were below average.

Meanwhile, in the Foreign Language subject (mainly English), about 31.5% of the tests were below average. The common score of candidates was about 5.75-8.25 points. The number of tests with perfect scores was 488, less than 1/3 of last year (1,700).

This year, the whole city has more than 88,000 9th graders graduating from junior high school, of which 76,435 students registered for the 10th grade entrance exam, 12,531 students did not participate (including 949 students admitted directly). The total quota for 115 public high schools in Ho Chi Minh City is 70,070.

The general admission score is the total score of the three subjects Literature, Mathematics, Foreign Language and priority points (if any). Candidates must take all three subjects, not violate the regulations, and not have a failing score.

Candidates' wishes are considered in order. Based on the quota of each school, the Department considers from top to bottom until the number is sufficient. The admission principle is that the admission score of the next wish must not be lower than the previous wish.

It is expected that the general 10th grade benchmark scores will be announced on June 26.
