From the unexpected acceleration on the rankings…
Ookla's Speedtest tool recorded that from 27th place at the end of 2024, Vietnam's mobile Internet speed entered the global Top 20 just 2 months later with an impressive index of 144.5 Mbps. Fixed bandwidth speed also increased to 164.77 Mbps, keeping Vietnam in the 35th position globally.
Data Pandas' "Internet Speed By Country" report points out a common "formula" after a period of evaluating the leading countries in terms of Internet speed. Strong investment in telecommunications infrastructure, widespread 5G network coverage, and a legal framework that facilitates business development are important factors contributing to boosting the Internet speed index. Vietnam is no exception to these factors, especially when Viettel - the largest network operator in Vietnam, officially commercializes 5G from October 2024.
In the context of Vietnam's policy of developing a digital economy , the role of the Internet becomes increasingly important. A telecommunications infrastructure system that ensures fast, stable and reliable Internet connection is not only a necessary condition for economic growth but also the "blood vessel" for multi-industry development, increasing the efficiency of global trade activities.
…To Viettel's journey to lead the 5G technology vehicle to the West
The success in improving the global Internet speed ranking has created a strong motivation for Vietnamese network operators to continue accelerating the strategy of popularizing 5G in each region. Recently, Viettel has planned to bring 5G technology buses to people in the Mekong Delta region.

The 5G bus with Viettel team has arrived to the people of the Southwest region.
With the slogan "Nam-Go Viettel - Too much data, can use forever", the 5G buses will roll to more than 160 stops in the provinces of Can Tho, Kien Giang, Ca Mau, Vinh Long, An Giang , Dong Thap.
Right at familiar places such as markets, parks, schools, crowded residential areas... people will experience the superior speed of the 5G network through Loto-Show livestream activities, experience how to use and control AI artificial intelligence... right on Samsung's latest Galaxy A phones. Nearly 60,000 useful gifts in the summer such as cool ice cream, sun protection gloves... along with exciting interactive games such as "Dataoke" - where players just need to exclaim "data da taaaaa" louder to have more chances to win attractive gifts.
Through the ability to connect and interact closely, the consulting team of the "national network" will advise on packages and support people to switch to 5G. The 5G car is like a mobile "data charging station", helping customers own extremely preferential packages such as SD125T with a capacity of up to 300GB/month (equivalent to 10GB/day). In addition, customers who want to buy a phone with a Viettel SIM will also receive an additional 300GB of super-fast data to fully utilize the new-age Internet features.

Viettel staff advise people on extremely preferential packages.
The highlight of the event series is the Lotoshow 5G Viettel program which will take place at 6:00 p.m. on June 28, 2025 at Ben Ninh Kieu Park (Can Tho), promising to explode with the first prize being a Samsung Galaxy S24 FE 128GB worth 16,990,000 VND, 2 second prizes being Samsung Galaxy A06 5G 128GB phones worth 3,990,000 VND, along with 30 consolation prizes including travel bags, phone accessories, helmets...
Viettel and its strategic vision for the digital future
Sharing about the significance of the program, Ms. Nguyen Ha Thanh - Deputy General Director of Viettel Telecom - emphasized: “The program is part of Viettel's strategy to implement Resolution 57 of the Politburo on digital economic development, contributing to gradually realizing the vision of national digital transformation. Through the 'Nam-Go' bus trip to the West, we hope that people will not only have access to the high-speed 5G network, but also experience practical applications that directly serve their daily life, work and study.”

The appearance of the SD125T package and creative interactive activities will help people in the West gradually change their Internet usage habits, thereby accessing digital education, online business, remote health care, etc. All contribute to creating a comprehensive digital ecosystem, promoting local economic development, improving the quality of life and opening up many new opportunities for the young generation.
The “5G bus” model in the West is a connecting bridge so that no one is left behind in the digital age. Each stop of the bus is a “connection station” - where dreams of studying, doing business, and technological entertainment can all begin with just one touch on the super-fast 5G network. In the future, when this bus continues to roll to many new lands, Viettel's digital universalization journey will go further, making technology a driving force for sustainable development for the whole country.
