Binh Tinh Commune Delegation, Tan Tru District supports farmers to post products for sale on e-commerce platforms

1. In line with the digital transformation trend, farmers in many places in the province have proactively applied scientific and technological advances to production to reduce labor and improve productivity and quality of agricultural products. Automatic irrigation models, automatic feeding systems, smart monitoring and management, etc. are no longer strange to many farms. This innovation brings a modern look to the province's agriculture .

Mr. Tran Nguyen Thanh Do (manager of Botanic Farm Clean Vegetable Production Facility, Ward 7, Tan An City) shared: “To reduce time, management effort and optimize labor costs, we invested more than 2 billion VND in greenhouses and IoT technology to grow 1,000m2 of hydroponic vegetables. The IoT system can flexibly control many functions such as fans, misting, sun protection or water pumps to take care of seedlings even when we are not present in the garden”.

Farmers are increasingly aware of the benefits of applying technology to agricultural production. To promote a more effective transformation process, the Department of Agriculture and Environment actively supports farmers in building, transferring and replicating advanced technology application models. The models are applied to rice, dragon fruit, lemon, vegetables and beef cattle and brackish water shrimp farming areas. Thereby, creating a breakthrough in agricultural production.

To date, the rice area has 63,988 hectares applying high technology, the vegetable area has 2,148 hectares, the dragon fruit area has 5,849 hectares and the lemon area has 4,114 hectares. In the beef cattle farming area, 5 pilot models have been implemented to date. In the shrimp area alone, the high-tech application area of the pilot model is 98.84/100 hectares compared to the plan for the 2021-2025 period. People have replicated the model with an area of about 1,172 hectares/2,146 households. In addition, the province also has 6 enterprises recognized as high-tech agricultural enterprises.

2. Not stopping at production, farmers also focus on applying digital technology in agricultural product consumption. E-commerce platforms, websites, etc. have become effective channels connecting farmers with consumers and businesses. One of the farmers who boldly applied digital technology in business is Ms. Le Thi Mai (Binh Tinh commune, Tan Tru district) with the Nguyen Lu Sophora flower tea brand, achieving 3-star OCOP certification.

Since the end of 2023, Ms. Mai's family's Sophora japonica tea products have become well-known. Instead of maintaining the traditional wholesale method, Ms. Mai decided to expand her distribution channel through e-commerce platforms to reach a larger customer base. Despite her advanced age, Ms. Mai has persisted in learning technological knowledge and skills to apply to her business.

Ms. Mai said: “Previously, I did business within the local area. However, when the demand of customers from far away increased, many people wanted to buy products but did not know the address, so the Commune Farmers' Association coordinated with the Commune Youth Union to support me in expanding sales channels through e-commerce platforms. At first, I was confused, but thanks to the enthusiastic guidance of the Commune Youth Union, I can now perform basic operations.”

To support Ms. Mai, Binh Tinh Commune Youth Union helped her design a sales website, guide her on posting products on e-commerce platforms, promote products at fairs, seminars, etc. Thereby, she can reach many potential partners and expand the consumer market.

Secretary of the Youth Union of Binh Tinh Commune, Tan Tru District - Do Tan Luc informed: "Realizing that farmers are still limited in promoting and building brands for their products, the Youth Union of the commune proactively approached and directly instructed people on basic sales operations and supported image design. Thereby, creating favorable conditions for people to easily promote products on e-commerce platforms".

In the context of economic integration, trading in the digital environment is an inevitable trend of modern agriculture. Doing business through e-commerce not only helps farmers expand their consumption markets but also gradually changes traditional production and business methods, bringing higher economic efficiency./.
