This year, many top universities plan to adjust their admission methods, including reducing the admission criteria based on high school graduation exam results.

This year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology enrolls 9,680 students, maintaining stability in 3 methods: considering talent (20%), considering thinking assessment test results (40%) and considering high school graduation exam results (about 40%).

Thus, compared to 2024, the admission quota based on high school graduation exam scores of Hanoi University of Science and Technology will decrease by about 10% (from 50% to 40%). Meanwhile, the quota based on the results of the school's thinking assessment exam will increase by 10% (from 30% to 40%).

National Economics University also adjusted the admission quota based on the 2025 high school graduation exam scores to 15% (down 3% compared to last year). With the combined admission method based on a separate project, the school reserved 83% of the quota, and directly recruited 2%. Thus, in the past 5 years, National Economics University has reduced the admission quota based on high school graduation scores from 70% to 15%.

This year, the National Economics University only has 4 admission combinations, including: A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), A01 (Math, Physics, English), D01 (Math, Literature, English) and D07 (Math, Chemistry, English). Candidates with IELTS from 7.5 - 9.0 will be converted to 10 points.

Hanoi National University of Education also has a roadmap to increase the ratio of admission quotas based on the scores of the school's capacity assessment exam and gradually reduce the ratio of admission quotas based on high school graduation exam scores.

This year, the school plans to enroll 4,995 students in 50 majors and regular university training programs with 3 methods, including: admission based on the 2025 high school graduation exam scores; direct admission, giving priority to candidates with outstanding abilities and achievements; admission based on the 2025 capacity assessment test scores organized by Hanoi National University of Education. Compared to last year, the school has abandoned the admission method based on high school transcripts.

The University of Commerce plans to reduce admission quotas based on high school graduation exam scores and increase admission quotas based on other methods, including using scores from competency assessment tests and thinking assessments.

The University of Commerce has not yet announced the reduction rate. However, the school representative said the reduction will be moderate to ensure fairness and quality of enrollment.

Previously, Nha Trang University announced that it would not use high school graduation exam scores from 2025. Candidates will be admitted based on a combination of academic records and competency assessment test scores.

With the method of considering learning results, in each major and training major of the school, the condition is that candidates must study a certain number of subjects at high school level according to the school's regulations. The results of these subjects must meet the minimum requirements announced by the school every year.

With the university learning capacity assessment method, in each training major and field of the school, candidates must participate in the university learning capacity assessment.
