Agoda's hotel booking searches in Hanoi, Sapa, Ha Giang , Ha Long Bay, and Cat Ba remain positive after damage from Typhoon Yagi.

October 28, platform tourism Agoda digital says traveler interest in key northern Vietnam regions remains strong following the damage caused by Typhoon Yagi in early September.

Accordingly, the number of room booking searches on Agoda recorded check-ins from August to October 2024 at popular destinations such as Hanoi, Sapa, Ha Giang, Ha Long Bay, Hai Phong and Cat Ba increased by 4% compared to the same period last year, reflecting stable interest in these locations. Tourists are gradually returning to these destinations after recovering from the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi.

Data from Agoda also shows that Vietnam tourism is seeing many positive changes as the number of searches about Vietnam from international tourists has increased in the past 3 months.

If in July 2024, the number of searches to Vietnam from international visitors increased by only 4% compared to the same period last year, this number increased sharply by 31% in August and exploded to 84% in September, when international visitors were actively looking for destinations for Christmas and New Year 2025.

Ha Long Bay is one of the destinations attracting tourists despite difficulties and damage caused by storm Yagi.

According to the General Statistics Office, the number of international visitors to Vietnam in the first 9 months of the year was 43% higher, with 12.7 million arrivals, surpassing the total number of visitors for the whole year of 2023.

Many businesses said they have just received a series of international tourist groups coming to Vietnam. Saigontourist Travel Service Company welcomed nearly 6,000 international cruise ship passengers on the Quantum of the Seas and Celebrity Millennium over the past 3 days of the weekend.

Tourists had a journey to explore and experience diverse culture, heritage and beautiful natural landscapes at prominent destinations in Central Vietnam, from Hue, Da Nang to Hoi An, exploring the vibrant destinations of Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and the provinces of the Southwest.

International visitors to Vietnam reached more than 12.7 million in the first 9 months of this year.

Many localities also proactively promote and attract international visitors abroad.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism announced that it has coordinated with the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore to organize a program to promote Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City tourism in Singapore from October 21 to 26.

The program aims to provide the most updated information on tourism products and services in Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City, creating opportunities for Vietnamese tourism businesses to meet Singaporean and international partners.

Singapore is one of the important markets for Vietnamese tourism, with great potential to contribute to the flow of tourists, including Ho Chi Minh City.

In 2024, the tourism industry is expected to welcome about 17-18 million international visitors, 110 million domestic visitors and total revenue of VND840,000 billion.
