Hai Van resistance blast furnace attracts many tourists to visit.
Coming to Nhu Thanh commune, visitors cannot help but visit the Hai Van Resistance Blast Furnace Historical Site (NX3 Blast Furnace) - a historical site located in the Dong Muoi stone mountain cave in Dong Muoi quarter. This is a heroic testament of our army and people in the resistance war against French colonialism. According to historical documents, in 1947, our nation's resistance war against French colonialism entered a fierce and fierce phase. At this time, the Central Government and President Ho Chi Minh directly assigned the Military Ordnance Department ( Ministry of National Defense ) to research, build and operate blast furnaces to smelt iron, create steel billets to supply weapons factories to serve the battlefield and local militia and guerrillas to fight the French.
Faced with this urgent task, the Department of Industrial Minerals (Central) and the Military Ordnance Department (Viet Bac) coordinated to decide to choose the mountainous area of Nhu Xuan as the location to build the factory. In 1949, after careful consideration, Dong Muoi valley, Hai Van commune, Nhu Xuan district (now Dong Muoi quarter, Nhu Thanh commune) was chosen as the location to build the NX1 and NX2 blast furnaces. At the end of 1953, the enemy discovered our secret mechanical workshop and bombed it. In this situation, the blast furnace was moved into the Dong Muoi cave. With high determination, all for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, soldiers, engineers, workers and local people urgently worked, disassembled, researched and improved the technique to successfully build the NX3 blast furnace. The NX3 blast furnace was inaugurated on the occasion of our army and people's victory at Hai Van pass. After this victory, the NX3 blast furnace was officially renamed the Hai Van Resistance Blast Furnace. This is also the premise marking the sister relationship between Thanh Hoa and Quang Nam provinces. In December 1954, Hai Van Resistance Blast Furnace officially ceased operations. In 1960, the State included Hai Van Resistance Blast Furnace in the list of protected cultural heritages; in 2013, it was ranked as a National Historical Relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Over the years, with the attention of the State, Hai Van Resistance Blast Furnace has been preserved, renovated and become a "red address" to educate patriotism and revolutionary traditions for present and future generations. Every year, the relic welcomes thousands of visitors to visit and experience.
