Many activities will take place at the United Nations Vesak Festival 2025

With the theme "Solidarity and Tolerance for Human Dignity: Buddhist Wisdom for World Peace and Sustainable Development", the 2025 United Nations Vesak Celebration hosted by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha will take place from May 6-8, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City.

On January 8, 2025, the National Organizing Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) - United Nations Vesak 2025, an event expected to have 1,000 delegates from more than 80 countries and territories attending.

This is the biggest international Buddhist cultural event of the year. According to the master plan, Ho Chi Minh City has selected many locations to organize the activities of the festival. In particular, the location of the opening ceremony, conference and closing ceremony will be held at the Vietnam Buddhist Academy (in Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City).

Venues for Buddhist cultural events include Thanh Tam Pagoda, Lang Le Park, Sala Theater, Sun World Ba Den Mountain Cultural Tourism Area, Tay Ninh Province. In addition, the Organizing Committee plans to hold an international art exchange night from Sala Theater at Dai Quang Minh Urban Area (Thu Duc City) on May 8.

According to Mr. Duong Ngoc Hai, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, since receiving the plan to host the United Nations Vesak Festival in 2025, Ho Chi Minh City has proactively guided and assisted the VBS. According to Mr. Hai, the site renovation work at the Vietnam Buddhist Academy (in Binh Chanh District) and Lang Le - Bau Co Cultural Park (Binh Chanh District) to prepare for the Vesak Festival has been handed over by the City People's Committee and assigned authority to the District People's Committee to proactively implement, expected to complete the project by April 15, 2025 at the latest. In addition, the city has also had a plan to coordinate the organization of parking lots, fire prevention and fighting, etc.

On the side of the VBS, Most Venerable Thich Duc Thien said that the Organizing Committee has prepared everything for the grand ceremony, including sending invitations to a number of heads of state, Supreme Patriarchs, and Monks of India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Cambodia, Mongolia, etc.

The VBS also instructed the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City to renovate and maintain the main hall and main hall, and build new areas to serve the Vesak festival in 2025. This will be the venue for major events of the 2025 United Nations Vesak Festival, including the opening ceremony, seminars, and closing ceremony.
