The representative of Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Company Limited (VAPCO) has just announced that Unit 1 of Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant has been officially put into commercial operation from 0:00 on July 22, 2025, after the testing process met technical requirements and operated stably.
Unit 1 has a designed capacity of about 600MW, using modern "ultra-supercritical" technology, helping to increase power generation efficiency and reduce emissions to the environment, contributing to supplementing important power sources for the national power system.
Currently, the remaining items, especially Unit 2, are in the testing phase and are expected to be completed and put into commercial operation in the near future, aiming to generate electricity for the entire plant in the third quarter of 2025.
The Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant Project with a total investment of over 2.2 billion USD is the largest BOT project in Ha Tinh at present, and is also one of the key national energy projects. After full operation, the project will create jobs for hundreds of highly skilled workers. and many accompanying satellite services, contributing a stable source of revenue to the local budget.
The official commercial operation of Unit 1 is the result of the tireless efforts of the team of engineers and experts at home and abroad as well as the active support from the authorities of Ha Tinh province.
