Wisteria (Fuji in Japanese) is a flower with gentle, charming beauty and deep meaning in Japanese culture.

Wisteria usually blooms in late spring, with a unique and outstanding beauty thanks to its long, hanging clusters of flowers like waterfalls of purple, light pink or pure white, creating a rare poetic and lyrical scene.

According to a VNA reporter in Japan, one of the most famous places to see wisteria flowers in the Land of the Rising Sun is Ashikaga Flower Park in Tochigi Prefecture, where magical wisteria tunnels captivate visitors.

The Wisteria Festival here is always one of the most prominent and popular spring flower viewing events in Japan.

Every year, from mid-April to mid-May, the park's colorful display of more than 350 wisteria trees of 12 different varieties attracts hundreds of thousands of domestic and foreign tourists.

The highlight of the festival is the wisteria tunnels, where long, soft clusters of flowers hang down to form a romantic and magical floral dome.

The most prominent of these is a 160-year-old wisteria tree with a canopy of nearly 1,000 square meters, along with other large wisteria trees intertwined together, creating a sky full of purple flowers.

The ancient wisteria tree is not only the symbol of the Japanese wisteria festival, but in 2014, CNN voted this wisteria tree as one of the "Dream Destinations" in the world , comparable to natural wonders such as the ice caves in Iceland or the Sahara desert.

In Japanese culture, wisteria is considered a symbol of eternal love and fidelity. The soft clusters of flowers droop down like a humble bow, symbolizing gentle but deep feelings, unobtrusive and lasting over time.

Besides the meaning of love, wisteria is also associated with strong vitality.

Wisteria is a sturdy tree that can live for hundreds of years and every year produces clusters of bright, soft flowers every spring, symbolizing the enduring vitality and resilient spirit of humans.

During the Heian period (794-1185), the powerful Fujiwara clan also used wisteria as their family symbol. Therefore, this flower also carries the connotation of nobility, elegance and sophistication.

With its dreamy beauty and profound meaning, wisteria is not only a decorative flower but also the embodiment of the Japanese soul: gentle, resilient and profound in emotion./.
