“Look to the right, hello! One! Two!”, on the training ground covered in the golden color of autumn sunshine, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Hong and her teammates in the Vietnam Women’s Peacekeeping Unit are actively practicing, taking strong steps towards the great national holiday. Only having a few days to rest with her family after participating in the parade in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, then continuing to practice for the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, although she misses home and her children very much, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Hong is always determined, discussing with her husband how to arrange family work to focus on this very honorable and proud mission.

“The two times I participated in the parade were both during hot weather. On September 2, the mission requirements were even higher because the number of troops in the group was large and the parade route was longer. The training staff maintained a high training intensity, focusing on training us in coordination techniques in the line and lining up. Although I was tired, I was used to the parade mission, so my teammates and I always tried to meet the mission requirements,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Hong.
Not only in the task of practicing parades and marching, when working at the Military School of Military Region 3, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Hong always upheld her sense of responsibility and made many positive contributions to the agency and unit.

In 2012, Ms. Hong took on the role of a grassroots cultural officer at the Military School of Military Region 3. When she first arrived at the school, she was still confused, especially in understanding and grasping the history and traditions of the school to explain to officers, students and soldiers visiting the Traditional Room. “I practiced explaining many times myself, then asked for comments from officers and teachers who had worked at the school for many years so that the explanation process was not simply memorizing the content but had soul, was inspiring, and achieved the goal of educating the traditions of students and soldiers. Not only that, I also read more documents about history and culture to be ready to answer questions and provide more knowledge to students and soldiers,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Hong.
Having a good approach to the task, she continued to be assigned by the unit commander to create internal radio news and create illustrative clips for the conference. Creating clips was a new task, she had not been trained and had no experience, but she proactively learned to complete it well. “I studied on the internet and took advantage of the opportunity when the comrades from the Military Region 3 Newspaper came to work at the school to ask for instructions on how to use Adobe Premiere software. I determined that I could not use the software proficiently right away, so I had to persevere and gradually get used to it. Up to now, I can operate skillfully and create clips according to the requirements of commanders at all levels,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Hong.

Thanks to her comprehensive knowledge of culture, history and clip making techniques, in 2022, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Hong and staff of the Propaganda Department participated in the Online Book Introduction Contest with the theme "Books and the desire to contribute" organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. With an expressive voice, carefully prepared and profound content, and touching and impressive illustrations, the clip introducing the book "Dang Thuy Tram's Diary" made by her and her teammates was highly appreciated by the audience and was awarded the Third Prize by the organizing committee at the end of the contest.
In addition to completing her duties well, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Hong is also a compassionate person. She always actively responded to the blood donation movement to save her comrades, jointly launched by the 108 Military Central Hospital at the Military School of Military Region 3, and participated in the blood donation campaign organized by the locality. From 2012 to present, she has donated blood 13 times. In 2019 and 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Hong was awarded a certificate of merit by the 108 Military Central Hospital for her noble act of donating blood to save people.

Recognized by Party committees, commanders at all levels and comrades, in 2024, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Hong was awarded the title of Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level.
