On the same afternoon, Hanoi Metro Company Limited confirmed that it had not issued any regulations prohibiting this type of vehicle on both the Cat Linh - Ha Dong and Nhon - Cau Giay lines. The incident originated from the fact that some officers and employees were not fully informed during the process of researching and developing regulations, leading to incorrect announcements.
Immediately after the discovery, Hanoi Metro leaders requested to continue serving customers with folding bicycles, including those with lithium batteries, until there are official regulations.
“Hanoi Metro apologizes to passengers, especially those carrying folding bicycles with lithium batteries, for the inconvenience this morning. We will study appropriate solutions to ensure safety, convenience and environmental friendliness,” said a company representative.

This unit recommends that passengers prioritize using buses or public bicycles to connect their journeys, and limit the use of folding bicycles with lithium batteries, especially during rush hours, to reduce the risk of fire and explosion. According to Hanoi Metro, many urban railway systems in the world apply strict regulations to this type of battery, such as limiting capacity or requiring the battery to be removed before boarding the train.

Currently, Hanoi has two metro lines in operation: Cat Linh - Ha Dong with about 45,000 passengers/day and Nhon - Cau Giay with more than 15,000 passengers/day.
