The 360-page novel Mien Co Co is about Battalion 840 from 1962 to the day of total victory on April 30, 1975. The setting is the battlefield of Zone 6 - Zone 10 (old), stretching from the South Central region, down to the Southeast, then up to Binh Long, Phuoc Long... The main character of the work is Vo Luong, a brave scout in the war as well as in life, daring to break the rules, living true to himself.

As a country that has suffered the heavy consequences of war, in recent years, the topic of war has been exploited by many domestic writers. Therefore, choosing a point of view, how to tell and write is a big challenge for the next writer. Writer Nguyen Minh Ngoc said that he could not help but felt pressured when writing Mien Co Tranh , even though he had almost finished writing it, he still decided to give it up and rewrite it.

"I want to recreate a very fierce war but not in a general vein, like many people have written before. In this work, I want to dig into the thoughts and images of people in the war. In that war, the vitality of people is very miraculous, that is why I the novel Cogon Grassland . Cogon grass is a plant with a very strong vitality, never extinct even though it is plowed and burned under bombs and bullets, it still grows roots and sprouts. The vitality of people in war is the same," writer Nguyen Minh Ngoc shared.

In Mien Co Tranh , writer Nguyen Minh Ngoc mentioned real battles, however, he did not have the ambition to rewrite history, but saw it as an excuse to depict and delve into the portrait of people in wartime, especially in love.

"In all circumstances, love is still a miracle for people. If anyone denies that, it is not true. Because it is reality. Life is colorful, no matter how you forbid it, once there is love, people will still find each other. That is the strength for everyone to stand firm in that fight," said writer Nguyen Minh Ngoc.

Although he has authored nearly 20 books, according to writer Nguyen Minh Ngoc, the novel Mien Co Tranh is the work that made him struggle the most, taking up the most time and effort. Through this work, he wants to tell readers: War never brings anything good to people, but the most important thing is how to avoid the disaster of war that can happen, befalling the fate of the nation, of people. Because to have peace , independence, freedom, the price to pay is very high, and a lot of blood must be sacrificed.
