"Star" of the collective economic sector, cooperatives

As one of the city's cooperatives awarded the "Cooperative Star 2025" award, the Danang Automobile Transport and Tourist Vehicle Support Service Cooperative (Son Tra District) has 47 years of development. The cooperative has made efforts to complete the new cooperative model, innovate management methods, and affirm its role as a solid support for its members. The cooperative manages and organizes transportation activities such as fixed-route passenger transport, freight transport, contract passenger transport; support and services for excavators, loaders, bulldozers, etc. Mr. Tran Doan, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of the cooperative, said that the cooperative has 152 members with 145 vehicles in operation, creating jobs for 152 members and 83 workers. The average income of workers at the cooperative is about 15 million VND/person/month. In addition to maintaining a large and stable number of traditional customers, the cooperative actively seeks, builds relationships and expands customers, and signs many new contracts to transport goods and passengers nationwide. Thereby contributing to improving the material and spiritual life of members and employees, ensuring social security in the locality. “Determining the safety factor is both the prestige of the transport industry and the economic efficiency of the cooperative, therefore, we pay great attention to traffic safety work. The cooperative regularly organizes drivers to register their commitment to maintain their vehicles well and drive safely; at the same time, closely monitor and conduct periodic and surprise inspections of the driving team as well as organize technical safety inspections of vehicles before they operate... The Cooperative Star Award is not only a recognition of the efforts of all members of the cooperative but also a motivation for us to continue to innovate, improve production and business efficiency, contributing to the development of a sustainable collective economy,” said Mr. Doan.

Similarly, Hoa Tien 1 Production and General Business Service Cooperative (Hoa Vang District) was also honored as the Cooperative Star in 2025 by the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance. Mr. Ngo Van Sinh, Director of the Cooperative, said that the Cooperative was established in November 1977 and has the largest agricultural production and service activities in the city. To date, the Cooperative has 1,376 member households and 2,865 workers; the total natural land area is 536 hectares, of which 335 hectares are agricultural land. The Cooperative has invested in synchronous infrastructure of irrigation works, irrigation canal systems, intra-field roads, warehouses, and drying yards. In particular, the facilities serving the production of the cooperative have a total value of 3.4 billion VND including: 4 rice seed drying kilns with a capacity of 35 tons/day, rice milling factory, packaging system, tractors, mechanical repair workshop... The cooperative has actively provided input services for members with stages such as: land preparation, rice planting, irrigation, seeds... and output services for members with the value chain of rice seed production and commercial rice of all kinds. At the same time, it has linked up with units inside and outside the city to process handicrafts for export.

The Cooperative always focuses on making plans and guiding members to apply scientific and technical advances in production, protecting and taking good care of 481 hectares of rice. Accordingly, the average annual yield of the Cooperative is 70 quintals of rice/ha. Recently, the Cooperative continued to produce 12 hectares (5 hectares of ST25 variety and 7 hectares of DT100 variety) of organic rice, certified to meet VietGAP standards and granted a growing area code. Notably, in December 2023, Hoa Tien Rice products were assessed and recognized by competent authorities as 3-star OCOP products. “The cooperative always tries to play the role of a midwife for the economic life of its members’ households, by guiding members to implement scientific and technical advances, use new varieties with high productivity and quality, apply machinery to agricultural production, make plans and guide members to change the structure of crops and livestock. Thanks to that, the income value on the production area has increased with an average income of 5 million VND/month per worker. From here, the appearance of the city’s rural areas has changed significantly, gradually developing sustainably,” Mr. Sinh shared.

Mr. Pham Cong Chinh, Chairman of the City Cooperative Union, said that in 2025, Da Nang will have 2 cooperatives honored in the top 100 typical cooperatives nationwide, with outstanding achievements in production and business activities; becoming "shining stars" for the city's collective economic development picture. However, for cooperatives to become an important driving force for the collective economic development movement, it is necessary to have the support of the city's functional branches in supporting investment in infrastructure, equipment, and application of advanced technology to create many goods and products that are both high quality and have strong brands, competitive enough in the market. In particular, it is necessary to create more favorable conditions for cooperatives to link with production enterprises following the green, circular, smart and sustainable trends in line with the new development trend. “It can be affirmed that the Cooperative Star Award with timely recognition and honoring of typical cooperatives is a driving force for units to be self-reliant, self-reliant, work hard, be creative, and strive to overcome difficulties to contribute to the overall development of the collective economy. In the coming time, the City Cooperative Union will continue to promote support and make the most of resources to improve the operational capacity of cooperatives in the area,” said Mr. Chinh.
