According to Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quang Hien, Director of the Department of Health, An Giang currently has 22 medical facilities with beds that have deployed electronic medical records, including: 10 district, town and city medical centers; 7 public hospitals and 5 private hospitals. As of June 2025, 100% of medical facilities with beds have basically completed the implementation of electronic medical records, including: Hospital information system (HIS); Laboratory information system (LIS); Image archiving and transmission system (PACS); application of digital signatures, electronic signatures; digitization of forms in electronic medical records (EMR). In addition, electronic medical records have been applied to both inpatient and outpatient medical records and specialized records in accordance with regulations. Units have organized appraisal and self-announcement according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health . Specifically, there are 9 medical facilities that have announced that they have achieved electronic medical records recognized by the Ministry of Health, such as: Provincial General Hospital, Chau Phu District Medical Center, Nhat Tan General Hospital, Tinh Bien Town Medical Center, Long Xuyen City Medical Center, Chau Thanh District Medical Center, Chau Doc City Medical Center, Tan Chau Regional General Hospital, Phu Tan District Medical Center. There are 9 medical facilities that have deployed and organized the assessment of achieving electronic medical records and are submitting documents to the Ministry of Health for recognition: An Phu District Medical Center, Cho Moi District Medical Center, Tri Ton District Medical Center, Thoai Son District Medical Center, Eye - Ear, Nose and Throat - Maxillofacial Hospital, Long Xuyen Eye Hospital, Cardiovascular Hospital, Traditional Medicine - Rehabilitation General Hospital, Binh Dan Hospital. At the same time, 4 medical facilities have deployed and submitted plans to organize internal audits by the end of June 2025: Huynh Trung Dung General Hospital, Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, An Giang Central General Hospital, and Hanh Phuc General Hospital.
The complete replacement of paper medical records will contribute to reducing procedures, improving the quality of medical data, ensuring information security and creating a solid foundation for connecting and sharing data with the national health system, serving the work of taking care of people's health effectively and continuously. At the same time, the implementation of electronic medical records helps improve the quality of management, care and treatment of patients, contributing to administrative reform, saving costs, minimizing professional errors and facilitating statistics, scientific research, connecting and interoperating medical data across the sector, meeting the increasingly high demand for medical examination and treatment of the people.
