The program is organized by the Vietnam Musicians Association to affirm, honor and promote the great values of typical musical works in particular and the contributions of revolutionary music in general in the 50-year historical journey of the nation.
Speaking at the program, Major General, Musician Nguyen Duc Trinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians Association, commented: Since the time the song "As if there was Uncle Ho in the great victory day" by musician Pham Tuyen was broadcast on the Voice of Vietnam radio on April 30, 1975, over the past 50 years, there have been tens of thousands of songs written by generations of Vietnamese musicians about the great historical event of our nation. Liberating the South - unifying the country, entering the era of national independence, building and defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam and today entering the era of national growth.

With surging emotions and sincere hearts, the musicians wrote works that vividly and richly reflect the lives of our people after the war years, praising the heroic traditions of the nation, praising the homeland that is renewing every day, praising and showing gratitude to heroic martyrs, praising love between couples...
“Vietnam Music Day encourages us to promote the traditional and revolutionary values of Vietnamese music, strive to create many good musical works, many meaningful musical activities to serve the public. Together with all classes of people, actively participate in building and developing advanced Vietnamese music, imbued with national identity” – Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians Association emphasized.

At the program, the Organizing Committee announced and awarded certificates of honor to 50 songs and 5 typical instrumental and musical works in the 50-year flow of Vietnamese music after the country's reunification. This is the result based on the votes of the Vietnam Musicians Associations nationwide.

With the art program "Melody of the Fatherland", the Organizing Committee introduced to the public some typical songs honored this time, such as: Melody of the Fatherland (music and lyrics: Tran Tien); Flowers in Uncle Ho's Garden (music and lyrics: Van Dung); Spring Melody (music: Cao Viet Bach, adapted from Luu Trong Lu's poem); Country (music and lyrics: Pham Minh Tuan, poetry: Ta Huu Yen); The Fatherland Calls My Name (music: Dinh Trung Can, poetry: Nguyen Phan Que Mai); The Village Communal House (music and lyrics: Nguyen Cuong); The Time of Red Flowers (music: Nguyen Dinh Bang, poetry: Thanh Tung); Remembering Hanoi (music and lyrics: Hoang Hiep); Boats and Sea (music: Phan Huynh Dieu, poetry: Xuan Quynh); Windy Night in Hanoi (music: Trong Dai, lyrics: Chu Lai-Trong Dai); Milk Flower (music and lyrics: Hong Dang); As if Uncle Ho was there on the day of great victory (music and lyrics: Pham Tuyen)... Along with that is the Duo Huong-Son "I'm afraid to say..." excerpted from act 1 of the opera Red Leaves by musician Do Hong Quan.

Nearly 20 elaborately staged performances bring both heroic and profound melodies of songs that have endured through the years, lighting up love for humanity and love for the homeland.
