“Crazyguy” – The Pioneer and the Journey to Paris

In the Vietnamese gaming community, the name Ngo Cong Anh (nickname crazyguy) has long become a phenomenon.

Born in 1996, growing up in Hanoi , Cong Anh has been involved with Esports since his middle school years, starting with the days of playing CS:GO in internet cafes.

Standing out for his flexible situation handling ability and sharp tactical thinking, he quickly affirmed his name in the Vietnamese FPS community.

In 2020, when VALORANT was released, Cong Anh decided to change his career direction, wholeheartedly pursuing this rapidly growing Esports genre.

After many years of training and competing, he joined the Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ) team - one of the leading Esports organizations in Southeast Asia, opening up opportunities to access top playgrounds.

To participate in VALORANT Champions 2025 - the world's most prestigious tournament taking place from September 12 in Paris, France, Cong Anh and his RRQ teammates had to go through a fierce competition journey.

At VCT Pacific 2025 Stage 2, an important tournament in the VALORANT Champions Tour system, RRQ faced a series of extremely strong opponents from Korea - one of the world's VALORANT "powerhouses".

With courage and explosiveness, crazyguy and RRQ consecutively defeated four top teams: Nongshim RedForce, Gen.G, DRX and T1.

The thrilling 2-1 victory over T1 not only earned them a ticket to Paris but also helped RRQ qualify for the VCT Pacific Stage 2 Loser Bracket Finals in Tokyo.

This is the perfect stepping stone, opening the door for “crazyguy” to set foot in VALORANT Champions – where the strongest teams on the planet gather.

In the international VALORANT community, “crazyguy” is not only an excellent player, but also a pioneer for the generation of Vietnamese gamers. He continuously sets historical milestones:

• The first Vietnamese to win VCT Pacific, the most prestigious tournament in the Asia- Pacific region.

• Participate in VALORANT Masters Toronto, one of the three largest international tournaments in the VCT system.

• And now, he becomes the first Vietnamese player to participate in VALORANT Champions - the most prestigious arena in the world.

Not only playing for RRQ, Cong Anh also left a strong impression on the national team. As captain, he led the Vietnamese VALORANT team to win the bronze medal at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia, making an important contribution to raising the image of Vietnamese Esports in the regional arena.

The Resilience of Vietnamese Esports

Ngo Cong Anh's journey also reflects the strong development of Vietnamese Esports in recent years.

Keeping up with the global trend, international tournaments are continuously brought to Vietnam, culminating in our country hosting VALORANT Challengers Southeast Asia 2025 (VCSEA S3) for the first time, taking place from September 5-7 at VPS Arena, Ho Chi Minh City.

Playing the role of owner, investor, organizer and broadcaster, ON Live Esports and VTVcab have created a professional playground with international standards.

This is the first time a regional VALORANT tournament has been held in ONLAN format in Vietnam, marking an important step in the journey to build a professional tournament system.

VTVcab also broadcasts the entire tournament on its digital ecosystem including ON Live, ON Plus and ON Live TV, giving audiences the opportunity to experience eye-catching matches live and interact with the regional Esports community.

According to a representative of Riot Games, the cooperation with ON Live Esports and VTVcab is part of a long-term strategy to build an international standard competition environment, opening up opportunities for young Vietnamese talents to access global playgrounds.

Cong Anh's story also reflects the change in social perception of Esports - from an "entertainment" to a creative industry, where young people can pursue their passion, develop their careers and create value.

Looking to the future, Cong Anh expressed his hope that one day, Vietnamese Esports will have many representatives participating in major international stages. He hopes that his journey will be the motivation for young talents to confidently step out into the world, just like he and RRQ are doing today.

From his early days at small internet cafes, Ngo Cong Anh has come a long way to become the first Vietnamese player to participate in VALORANT Champions - the most prestigious Esports stage in the world.

That journey not only left a personal mark, but also opened a new chapter for Vietnamese Esports, when domestic names are gradually asserting their competitive ability in the international arena.

With the support of ON Live Esports and VTVcab, the Vietnamese e-sports industry is facing the opportunity to grow strongly, inspiring millions of young people with a passion for technology, creativity and integration.
