Badminton "hot girl" Nguyen Thuy Linh has just announced that she officially has a ticket to the 2024 Olympics. Vietnam's No. 1 female tennis player wrote on her personal page: "Hello everyone, for those who love, support and follow me throughout my journey, especially the 1 year of accumulating points to reach the 2024 Olympics. Today, I would like to officially announce that I have qualified to attend the 2024 Paris Olympics."
This is the second consecutive time Thuy Linh has participated in the Olympics. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Thuy Linh, ranked 49th in the world, had two victories over higher-ranked players Qi Xuefei (France, ranked 41st in the world) and Sabrina Jaquet (Switzerland, ranked 46th in the world). In history, no female Vietnamese badminton player has achieved what Thuy Linh has.
After 4 years of progress and currently ranked 24th in the world, Thuy Linh is expected to continue to create surprises at this Olympics.
Thuy Linh is currently in Hue to compete in the national badminton team championship in Dong Nai . After this tournament, the athlete born in 1997 will focus on training to prepare for the 2024 Olympics.
Thuy Linh came to badminton thanks to her grandfather. At the age of 10, Thuy Linh was taken to Hanoi by her grandfather to apply to coach Duong Thi Lien's gifted class. "My grandfather was the one who instilled in me a passion for badminton and introduced me to this sport. When I was little, after school in the afternoon, every day I asked my grandfather to let me go to the court to watch people play badminton and borrow his racket to play by myself," the tennis player from Phu Tho shared.
Thuy Linh marked her debut in the Vietnamese badminton team when she participated in the 28th SEA Games (2015), at the age of 18.
She quickly asserted her talent and had no rivals domestically. Thuy Linh also conquered many international tournaments, once entering the world top 20.
Thuy Linh said that since she was little she dreamed of becoming a professional athlete.
