Earlier, Russian President Putin instructed Prime Minister Mishustin to form an appropriate commission. At the same time, acting Governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo pointed out that the damage caused by the collapse of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant and flooding in the territories will amount to more than 1.5 billion rubles.

Previously, he said, people in flooded areas received 48 temporary shelters, designed for 2,700 places. According to him, the most difficult hours have passed. However, in 17 residential areas, the number of houses submerged under water has increased to nearly 22,300.

The dam collapse at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant occurred in the early morning of June 6, leading to an uncontrolled release of water. As a result, dozens of residential areas, including Kherson and Novaya Kakhovka, were almost completely flooded. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has opened a criminal case on a terrorist attack that led to the dam collapse at the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant and flooding in the territories.

Russia and Ukraine blame each other for the dam collapse, and experts have different theories about the cause. However, the massive humanitarian and environmental disaster is being inflicted on residents in the parts of Kherson controlled by both sides.
