To build a green, clean, beautiful and safe school environment, Hoang Luu Primary School (Hoang Hoa) has proactively equipped safety equipment, planted trees in the school yard; built a sanitary area that meets requirements; periodically sprayed insecticide in the school space... In particular, during the teaching and learning process at school, every Friday afternoon, teachers and students of the school together clean the classrooms and school yard. In addition, in order to raise students' awareness and understanding of the role of the environment, trees as well as the harmful effects of climate change on life, Hoang Luu Primary School also focuses on integrating environmental protectioneducation content for students through appropriate lessons, subjects and extracurricular activities, early morning activities, flag salutes... According to teacher Le Thi Thuy, Vice Principal of Hoang Luu Primary School: "From the above practical activities, students have a correct understanding of environmental protection. When their awareness is raised, they are not only active members of environmental protection in their place of study, but also propagandists to their friends and relatives about environmental protection awareness and actions. This is also the goal for the school to regularly equip students with environmental protection knowledge and skills in each school year".
At many other schools such as Quang Xuong 2 High School, Quang Cat Secondary School (Thanh Hoa City)..., to raise awareness of teachers and students about environmental protection, at the beginning of each school year, schools develop plans and implement many meaningful and practical programs such as participating in the "Campaign to Make the World Cleaner", "World Environment Day"; cleaning and sanitizing school grounds and classrooms... Many schools in Hau Loc and Hoang Hoa districts, Thanh Hoa City also organize art competitions, write articles on the topic of climate change and climate change response, make recycled items from cans, cardboard, old items...; incorporate environmental protection into emulation movements, have preliminary summaries, commendations and rewards. Some schools also organize for students to write consumer diaries about plastic bags, compete in ringing the golden bell, draw pictures on the topic of climate change... to create a positive effect in propaganda, raising awareness of green, clean, and beautiful environmental protection in each student.
Since 2005, the Ministry of Education and Training has issued Directive No. 02/2005/CT-BGDDT on "Strengthening environmental protection education". In 2008, it continued to issue Directive No. 40/2008/CT-BGDDT on launching the emulation movement "Building friendly schools, active students"... These are important legal bases for educational institutions to effectively implement environmental protection education programs over the past years. Currently, this activity is being implemented flexibly and effectively by schools. According to the assessment of the Department of Education and Training, at preschool level, schools implement environmental protection education through fun activities on the topic "Children get acquainted with the surrounding environment"; at primary level with the subjects: Health education, learning about nature and society; Secondary and high school levels integrate environmental protection education programs into many subjects, especially Geography, Biology, Civic Education, Chemistry and through experiential activities...
In addition, the industry also launched a movement to research and write experience initiatives on the topic of environmental protection and anti-plastic waste; organized exhibitions of products and items recycled from used plastics... From these positive solutions and specific activities, the awareness of environmental protection of staff, teachers and students has been significantly raised. Students are equipped with basic knowledge about the role of the environment for humans and the impact of humans on the environment, developing environmental protection skills. Thereby contributing significantly to the goal of environmental protection for the whole population.
Faced with the unpredictable impacts of climate change and environmental pollution as it is today, educating students about environmental protection is one of the important solutions to protect the environment for the future. If from the first days of school, students are aware of environmental protection and realize the responsibility and challenges of natural resources and environment issues for their own future, they will certainly be active propagandists for their relatives and the community about the role and significance of environmental protection activities.
