Thanh Khe District Farmers' Association at all levels focuses on gathering and developing members to build a strong association.

Building a strong association

Determining the motto "A strong association can operate effectively", Thanh Khe District Association and wards focus on developing members; innovating the gathering work with many lively forms, such as: excellent propagandist contest, ringing the golden bell, visiting agricultural development models in and outside the city. Associations at all levels organize quarterly birthdays, meet association officials on holidays and Tet, organize football and chess tournaments... to create playgrounds, exchange and meet households. Thereby improving spiritual life, supporting farmers to develop the economy , creating conditions for borrowing capital, and mobilizing farmers to participate in the association.

In 2024, the district's membership development work exceeded the assigned target with 378/200 members, reaching 189%. In the first 6 months of 2025, the district developed 287 more members, bringing the total number of farmers' association members in the district to 4,400 people. In order to build a team of quality association officials, the District Association organized knowledge and professional training for 100% of full-time association officials at all levels, and branch heads of farmers' associations in the fields of social insurance, labor safety, environmental protection, training on the use of by-products into biofertilizers, etc. In particular, training on flower and ornamental plant growing; first aid for fishermen; food hygiene and safety for officers and members of street food businesses.

In order to create conditions for members to develop the economy, the associations at all levels have promoted the establishment of cooperatives, branches, and professional associations. In 2024, the District Association established Thanh Khe Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative; 2 cooperatives: processing dried seafood and exploiting seafood by trawling; 5 branches, 5 professional associations of farmers. Up to now, the associations at all levels have effectively maintained the operations of 15 professional branches; 19 professional associations; 3 cooperatives; 11 cooperatives. At the same time, they have effectively maintained 5 points for displaying, buying and selling and introducing clean agricultural products from all regions in the ward associations.

Membership Companion

At the end of 2024, while fishing at sea, the fishing boat of fisherman Le Huu Thao (Xuan Ha ward) unfortunately sank, causing great property damage. Upon receiving the news, the City Farmers' Association coordinated with the District and Ward Farmers' Associations to visit, encourage and provide support to members; at the same time, instructing the boat owner to submit a request for support to the relevant authorities to partially overcome the damage and return to production soon. Similarly, while at sea, the fishing boat of fisherman Tran Van Duc (Thanh Khe Tay ward) encountered strong winds and capsized, causing the entire machine and 10 nets to be severely damaged. To support members, the Thanh Khe Tay Ward Farmers' Association mobilized officers and soldiers of Phu Loc Border Guard Station to help bring the vehicle ashore. At the same time, it advised the Ward People's Committee to support 3 million VND to help members repair their vehicles so they can continue to go offshore.

To help members have capital to develop production and business, the District Association manages and deploys loan sources effectively. Accordingly, 164 households borrowed capital from the City Farmers Support Fund, with a total amount of more than 3.8 billion VND. The District Farmers Support Fund funded by the Thanh Khe District People's Committee has 42 households borrowing, with a total amount of more than 1.08 billion VND. In particular, the District Association maintains the Farmers Support Fund from the mobilized resources of its members, lending to 24 households, with a total amount of nearly 407 million VND.

In addition, the District Association has guaranteed loans for 1,974 households from the Thanh Khe District Social Policy Bank, with a total loan amount of more than 107 billion VND. To ensure the effective use of loans, the District Association regularly organizes inspection teams to monitor the entrusted capital of the District Social Policy Bank in 4 wards, 19 savings and loan groups, working with 43 borrowers; and at the same time, visiting 3 households that are slow to repay loans to mobilize them. The District Association and the Farmers' Associations of the wards manage and closely monitor loan sources, urge, remind, collect principal and fees according to regulations, and prevent loan losses.

Chairman of Thanh Khe District Farmers' Association Phan Dang Quang said that in the context of increasingly popular digital transformation, in early June 2025, the District Association coordinated with the District Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee to organize a training course on "Digital literacy - Thanh Khe District Farmers' Association members enter the AI era" for more than 100 officials and members of the entire district.

The training session introduced basic knowledge about artificial intelligence (AI), tools to support production, smart business, and skills in using digital platforms to access markets, promote and sell products. According to Mr. Quang, this is a meaningful activity, closely linked to practice, helping to equip members with new knowledge, opening up opportunities, creating motivation for farmers to proactively integrate and adapt to the digital transformation trend, contributing to building a modern and sustainable agriculture in the technology era.
