This event continues the "Journey to help dreams fly" that the Hanoi Children's Fund's Sponsoring Council has directed the Social Work Center and the Hanoi Children's Fund to carry out continuously over the past years, contributing to affirming the city and community's concern for children in difficult and special circumstances, helping them to be confident in studying and growing up.

Part 1: The hidden corners

Amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life in the thousand-year-old capital, there are still quiet corners where children do not have a complete childhood. Amidst countless material and spiritual deprivations, their eyes still shine with the desire to study, to live well and to be loved. And it is touching that beside them, there are still kind hearts always ready to extend their arms to protect and support them.

Every life is an inspiring story

Trinh Yen Nhi (Quang Lang village, Dai Xuyen commune, Hanoi), is an 8A student at Quang Lang Secondary School. Yen Nhi was born in 2011 in a family with difficult circumstances, her mother is disabled, raising her alone is not easy. Loving her mother, Yen Nhi always tries to help her mother with housework and tries to study well. Last school year, she was an excellent student at the district level, won Third Prize in Civic Education and Encouragement Prize in Literature.

Despite many difficulties and deprivations, Yen Nhi is still fortunate to grow up in the arms of her family. In another corner of life, there are children who lack a biological home and have to rely on social assistance facilities. As a compensation, social assistance facilities always care for and educate them, helping them find a common family - where love is shared to fill the gaps.

An example is the case of Nguyen Xuan Duong, born in 2014, currently being cared for at Birla Children's Village Hanoi. Coming from a poor family in Thuy An (Ba Vi, Hanoi), when he was born, Duong did not know who his father was. After giving birth to him, his mother suffered a stroke, became paralyzed, and her health gradually weakened, unable to raise him. On April 15, 2020, he was admitted to Birla Children's Village Hanoi for care and nurturing, when he was only 6 years old. Shortly after he entered the Village, due to poor health, his mother passed away. Duong continued to receive the love and care of foster mothers and uncles and aunts at the Village.

At this second home, Duong actively participates in cultural and sports activities in the Village and studies well at Primary School. He has many hobbies such as assembling Lego, reading stories, drawing, watching cartoons, learning computer science, likes to play with friends, likes to eat fried chicken, pho... Overcoming all difficulties and losses, under the care of his adoptive mother, a staff member of Birla Children's Village who directly raises the children, Duong lives happily and studies, nurturing his dream and ambition to become a useful person for society in the future.

A reliable support for children in the capital

Hanoi currently has more than 2.1 million children, of which 14,475 are in special circumstances, 16,870 are at risk of falling into special circumstances, and there are also many children in difficult circumstances. The Hanoi Social Work Center and Children's Protection Fund have long been a reliable support, providing learning opportunities, health care and development for tens of thousands of children in the capital, contributing to the implementation of social security goals, for the future of children.

From 2022 to present, under the direction of the Hanoi Children's Fund Sponsorship Council, the Hanoi Social Work Center and Children's Fund have mobilized more than 42.6 billion VND (both cash and in kind) to carry out child protection work, supporting 29,432 children with a budget of more than 41.25 billion VND, through activities of awarding scholarships, bicycles, regular support... so that no child is left behind. Because, as affirmed by the Director of the Hanoi Social Work Center and Children's Fund Nguyen Van Trieu, "every child - regardless of the circumstances born, deserves a bright future and a complete childhood like their peers".

"Meeting outstanding children of the capital overcoming difficulties to study well" is one of the programs that the Children's Fund Sponsorship Council directed the Social Work Center and the Hanoi Children's Fund to successfully organize, leaving a deep impression on disadvantaged children. Starting in 2016, through 8 times of organization, nearly 1,600 outstanding children in difficult circumstances with high academic achievements have participated in the program.

In the 2025 edition, the program received the support of Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited, MB Ageas Life Insurance Company Limited, Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Development Trade Union, SPE Vietnam Insurance Brokerage Joint Stock Company, Construction Mechanical Joint Stock Company No. 5, Thien Truong Trading Service and Production Company Limited, Tan Phat Mechanical Company Limited, Hoang Tuyen Steel Production and Trading Company Limited, Viet Tiep Mechanical Production and Trading Company, Viet Long Production and Trading Service Company, Faculty of English 2 - University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, YDHH Vietnam Bicycle and Electric Vehicle Company, Tran Gia Phat Steel Company and a number of individuals.

Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Health, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hanoi Children's Fund Dinh Hong Phong shared: The program "Meeting outstanding children of the capital who overcome difficulties to study well" in 2025 recognized and commended 200 outstanding disadvantaged children who overcome difficulties to study well in 38 communes, wards and 4 social protection facilities. Overcoming many difficulties and obstacles, the children have made efforts and risen up to be encouraged, to interact and share with their friends and to receive worthy rewards.

The recognition, giving of gifts and scholarships to support children who overcome difficulties in their studies is a recognition of the extraordinary efforts of the children, demonstrating the care and love of their families and teachers. At the same time, it affirms the close leadership and direction of the Party Committee and the government, the responsible coordination of the Fatherland Front, socio-political organizations, and the companionship and sharing of agencies, organizations, businesses and philanthropists. It is this cooperation that has created a safe and humane environment, helping children fully exercise their rights as children, and have the opportunity to study and develop comprehensively.
