The Government Office has just issued Official Dispatch 5854 conveying Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long's opinion on handling information reflecting the fight against and prevention of the production and trade of fake functional foods and fake cosmetics.
According to the document, previously, the press reported that in many localities across the country, authorities discovered many cases of thousands of boxes of medicine and functional foods being secretly dumped and destroyed...
This shows that the production and trade of fake food and functional foods is complicated, seriously affecting the health and economy of consumers. The incidents also raise questions about the effectiveness of inspections and checks by authorities to control and prevent this situation.
Therefore, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Health to continue to resolutely implement the solutions directed by the Prime Minister to prevent, control and handle fake drugs, fake foods and fake cosmetics.
In particular, it is necessary to focus on reviewing, researching, and perfecting regulations and appropriate tasks and solutions to improve the effectiveness of the fight against and repel the production and trade of counterfeit foods, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. In addition, it is necessary to pay attention to researching and handling issues raised by the press regarding improving the effectiveness of inspection, examination, and testing costs for handling counterfeit cosmetics.

During a peak month, authorities continuously discovered violations related to counterfeit and fake goods being openly sold on e-commerce platforms. Typically, in early May, the Economic Police Department of Bac Giang Provincial Police dismantled a facility producing and trading a large quantity of fake cosmetics in Dai Lam Commune, Lang Giang District, Bac Giang Province.
The deodorants, acne serums, skin whitening products, etc. of this establishment are sold on e-commerce platforms Shopee and TikTok Shop. From around the end of 2024 until now, the owner of this establishment has sold more than 100,000 orders to customers nationwide, with a revenue of more than 6 billion VND.
Most recently, the case of the owner of the TikTok channel "Gia Dinh Hai Sen" being prosecuted and detained for investigation of the crime of Trading in counterfeit goods caused a stir in public opinion. In particular, the product "Hai Be delicious syrup" was identified as fake and was widely sold through many e-commerce platforms such as TikTok Shop, Shopee, and Facebook. According to the authorities, more than 100,000 boxes of "Hai Be delicious syrup" were sold on the market, mainly through livestreams and on-line booths.
