Politico reported this week that petty theft on Air Force One is ongoing and items on the president's plane keep disappearing.

“For years, journalists and others have quietly stuffed everything from engraved whiskey tumblers to wine glasses and just about anything else with the Air Force One seal in their pockets before stepping off the plane,” the article said.

Last month, the White House Correspondents' Association sent an email to its members, warning that items taken from the press room on Air Force One, which were actually kept as souvenirs by reporters, had not gone unnoticed.

According to AFP, every time President Joe Biden travels on Air Force One, 13 reporters accompany him. Media companies pay their reporters to fly on government planes, including food and drinks served during the flight.

The crew only handed out small souvenirs, including chocolates emblazoned with the presidential seal and the leader's signature. Sunglasses and other Air Force One-branded accessories are available online.

But those items don't seem to be appealing enough. Politico reports that the clinking of plates and glassware often emanates from journalists' backpacks as they step off planes.

In one case, a former White House correspondent hosted a party at his home and served food on stolen gold-rimmed Air Force One plates. But in another case, after a reprimand from the correspondents’ union, a reporter discreetly returned a pillowcase during a scheduled meeting with a press official in the park across from the White House.
