NBC News reported that US Vice President JD Vance assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European partners that Washington would not conduct any negotiations with Russia on a solution to the conflict in Ukraine without the participation of Kiev and its European allies.
NBC News quoted two senior German government officials who directly participated in the August 13 phone call as saying that President Trump, Vice President Vance and other members of the US administration showed special interest in issues that Ukraine and its European allies considered key in the diplomatic negotiation process.
Regarding the US-Russia summit, Deputy Head of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexey Fadeyev confirmed that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will attend.
