The US Federal Register said the Biden administration has added 37 Chinese entities to its trade blacklist for actions deemed “prejudicial to the national security or foreign policy interests of the United States”.

Entities on this list are not allowed to access categories of US goods and technology without permission from the US government. The US Department of Commerce uses the trade restriction list, known as the Entity List, to block the flow of technology from the US to China, citing concerns that these technologies could be used to enhance Beijing's military capabilities.

On the same day, US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo said the country is considering banning the import of connected cars (smart cars, with their own connection to the internet, allowing sharing of internet access and data with other devices inside and outside the car) made in China and will make a specific decision after careful analysis.

Reuters reported that Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on May 10 that Beijing firmly opposes the US's abuse of export control tools, following the above decision.
