Butterfly season in Cuc Phuong

In early May, when the warm sunshine gradually replaces the lingering spring rain, Cuc Phuong National Park enters its most brilliant and magical period of the year. In the midst of the vast wilderness, flocks of colorful butterflies flutter and show off their beauty, creating a scene as beautiful as a fairyland that can only be found in dreams.

Around the end of April to the end of May every year, after going through a wet spring with rains day after day, Cuc Phuong will enter the butterfly season with large flocks flocking here, flooding the entire forest.

The butterflies migrating to Cuc Phuong are mainly white butterflies, in addition to colorful wild butterflies such as swallowtail butterflies, starling butterflies... The whole peaceful forest suddenly becomes brilliant, like a colorful picture woven by butterflies.

The butterflies land in flocks of white on the ground, flying around every step of the visitors. Cuc Phuong Forest is about 120km from Hanoi , so visitors have many options for transportation. First, you can travel by car or motorbike on the Phap Van - National Highway 1A route. After reaching Gian Khau intersection, follow National Highway 12 to reach the national park.

If you travel by bus from Hanoi, you can catch a bus from Giap Bat bus station to Nho Quan. Because the route is quite short, the ticket is only about 70,000 to 100,000 VND/trip. After getting off at Nho Quan, take a bus to Cuc Phuong forest.
