MU finalizes plan to replace Gyokeres, stock price rebounds spectacularly

In the context of the Viktor Gyokeres recruitment deal having problems due to Sporting Lisbon increasing the price at the last minute, MU is considering a backup plan for Victor Osimhen.

MU turns to Osimhen.

The Nigerian striker had a breakout season for Galatasaray, scoring 32 goals in 37 games. He arrived in Türkiye on loan from Napoli, as he was not in coach Antonio Conte's plans. Galatasaray wanted to keep him, but interest from Saudi Arabia and Manchester United made the deal difficult to predict.

However, the biggest obstacle is Osimhen's salary. At Galatasaray, he receives up to 300,000 pounds/week after tax, equivalent to about 500,000 pounds if he moves to England. This is a salary beyond the current ability of the "Red Devils".

After spending £62m to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves, MU is forced to offload players to balance the books. Two names on the list of players to be sold are Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho.

According to CIES , Hojlund is currently valued at £68m, despite not making much of an impact since moving to MU for £72m. The club only needs to sell for around £38m to break even according to contract amortization calculations. Napoli and Inter Milan are pursuing Hojlund.

Meanwhile, Garnacho is valued at £54m and if sold, the entire proceeds would be net profit under financial fair play rules. Coach Ruben Amorim has announced that the young Argentine star will find a new home this summer.

MU shares bounce back after gloomy days.

In a rare bit of positive news, Manchester United shares have rebounded. After their defeat in the Europa League final, the share price had fallen below £10, the lowest since Sir Jim Ratcliffe invested in the club more than a year ago.

However, recent weeks have seen a strong recovery, peaking at £14.51 per share and raising MU's market value to nearly £2.5 billion, although still far from the £4.54 billion initially expected.

However, MU is still struggling with huge debt. According to Deloitte , the Old Trafford club currently has a debt of 482 million pounds. This figure is lower than Tottenham's, but MU's annual debt repayment costs are higher, up to 61 million pounds.

Last season, MU's wage bill was also up to 365 million pounds, only behind Man City and Liverpool. Meanwhile, failed deals in the past caused the club to lose 186 million pounds in depreciation costs and Ineos had to inject an additional 159 million pounds to maintain operations.

On the organizational front, MU is recruiting two senior media positions to prepare for the 2025/26 season, showing the club's determination to refresh its image after a forgettable year. It can be seen that the "Red Devils" leadership is focusing on reducing risks and optimizing efficiency in all aspects, especially prioritizing bringing in new players who understand the Premier League.
