According to confirmation from the organization specializing in monitoring the Internet and social network access - Netblocks, the Instagram application has been banned in Türkiye due to the controversy related to the Hamas movement on this platform.

Last Friday, on social network X, the country's head of information and communications Fahrettin Altun posted a post accusing Instagram of actively blocking users from posting condolences to Ismail Haniyeh, the recently assassinated Hamas leader.

Although the Turkish regulatory agency has not given a specific reason for imposing the ban, it seems to be related to the above accusation.

Meta has yet to make an official comment on the ban.

This is not the first time a social media app has been banned in Türkiye. In 2014, YouTube and Twitter were blocked, and more recently last year, after an earthquake killed thousands of people, Twitter was briefly blocked.
