Tra Vinh University: Aiming for the highest goal

At 8:00 a.m. on February 27, 2025, teachers and students of Tra Vinh University arrived in Ho Chi Minh City. The members checked in, had breakfast at the hotel, and then rested to prepare for the THACO Cup 2025 TNSV Finals.

A representative of the Tra Vinh University delegation said the bus departed at around 5am but many players had arrived long before that. The night before, many team members were also restless and couldn’t sleep.

The players quickly checked in at the hotel arranged by the Organizing Committee.

Talking to the players, the most impressive thing for Thanh Nien reporters was their enthusiasm, innocence, and genuineness, typical of the West. No one complained despite the long bus ride from early morning.

Captain Cao Lu Minh Thuan confided that with only a few days left until the finals, the whole team is united in their pursuit of the highest goal. They came here with a relaxed spirit, but the desire to conquer the throne is stronger than ever.

“I still remember the feeling of restlessness and anxiety last year. That was the first time we made it to the finals and then stopped at the quarterfinals. This year is different, we are more mature, have a bit more experience and are more confident. But that doesn’t mean we are subjective, because when we mature, so does the other team. They are also much stronger and more edgy,” shared team captain Minh Thuan.

Minh Thuan is one of the biggest contributors to the journey of bringing Tra Vinh team to win the only ticket of the Southwest region to the final round. Thuan scored 6 goals, the most in the region. The midfielder from the Southwest revealed that the most important thing is composure. 80 minutes is long enough to wear down the strength of any student player if they do not control the running path well.

Speaking of Tra Vinh team, besides Minh Thuan, there is also Ha Van Thuan. This guy set the record for scoring the fastest goal in the tournament. As expected, Van Thuan is agile and extremely determined.

"Our first goal is the championship cup, and our second goal is also the championship cup. Physically, I know our team is not as tall as the other team, but in return we are skillful and agile. The important thing is that the whole team is united and does their best for the common goal," Van Thuan confidently said.

Ha Van Thuan (shirt number 9) set a record for scoring the fastest goal in the tournament.

Tra Vinh players will play the opening match of the final round.

Tra Vinh University's journey to the finals was convincing when they won all 3 group stage matches against Vinh Long University of Technical Education (4-0), FPT University Can Tho (4-1), and Tay Do University (6-0).

In the play-off, Coach Tram Quoc Nam's students won against Cuu Long University with a score of 1-0 and defeated Nam Can Tho University in the final. In the upcoming final round, Tra Vinh University is in group A with the following teams: Ton Duc Thang University, Hue University, Quy Nhon University.

The Tra Vinh team will be the first to take the field to compete with the home team Ton Duc Thang University in the opening match of the final round. The remaining two names in this group are Hue University and Quy Nhon University.
