The information was confirmed by Mr. Atsushi Kurita - President of Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI). Accordingly, the Japanese car company started taking deposits on the afternoon of July 23 and by the end of July 27, it had recorded a total of 2,000 orders from Indonesian consumers. Within the framework of the Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS 2025), up to 550 customers registered to buy cars directly at the booth. On average, about 400 people order Mitsubishi Destinator every day, showing the strong attraction of this CUV model since its first days in the Southeast Asian market. Currently, the listed price of Destinator in Indonesia ranges from 617 to 745 million VND.
Previously, Mr. Ito Masahiro - Director of Product Development, Mitsubishi Motors Global Product Strategy Department shared that the Mitsubishi Destinator is targeted to sell 50,000 units globally. In particular, in Indonesia alone, the Japanese automaker expects to sell 10,000 units from now until the end of March 2026. Mitsubishi Destinator is positioned in the C-class CUV segment, competing with rivals such as Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson or Mazda CX-5. The car was launched globally on July 17, 2025, marking a strong shift in design and technology for Mitsubishi. In terms of appearance, Destinator carries the company's signature Dynamic Shield design language, but is innovated with a more angular and powerful shape. The LED headlights are placed high, combined with a three-layer honeycomb grille covered with transparent acrylic, helping to increase visual depth. The body of the car stands out with a ground clearance of up to 244 mm, an impressive number in the CUV segment. The car is equipped with 18-inch wheels and has strong embossed lines running along the body, highlighting its sporty and muscular appearance. The rear of the car is neatly handled with T-shaped LED taillights, inspired by the familiar spare wheel on the legendary Pajero line.
This CUV model has overall dimensions of length x width x height of 4,680 x 1,840 x 1,780 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,815 mm. The approach angle of 21°, the breakover angle of 20.8° and the departure angle of 25.5° show that its off-road performance is not inferior to traditional SUV models. Mitsubishi Destinator has a spacious, comfortable interior with a series of notable amenities, such as an electric panoramic sunroof, a multi-color interior lighting system with 64 color options, a symmetrically designed center console with a 12.3-inch touch screen and an 8-inch digital clock cluster. The car is equipped by the Japanese car manufacturer with a high-end Yamaha Dynamic Sound system, providing a vivid and in-depth sound experience, promising to meet the needs of young users or families who love convenience. The suspension system on the Destinator is also specially tuned to suit the operating characteristics of the Southeast Asian region, which has many bad roads, potholes or mixed terrain. Thanks to that, the car brings a smooth and stable feeling, especially when traveling with a full load of 7 passengers.
Powering the Mitsubishi Destinator is a 1.5L MIVEC Turbo petrol engine, producing 161 horsepower and 250Nm of maximum torque. This engine is combined with a CVT front-wheel drive transmission, applying the Atkinson cycle and intercooler technology to improve performance and optimize fuel consumption. In terms of safety equipment, Mitsubishi Destinator owns an advanced driver assistance package (ADAS), including active safety technologies such as collision warning, lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, smart cruise control... All to optimize peace of mind for the driver, especially in crowded traffic environments or long journeys. Currently, many Mitsubishi dealers in Vietnam have begun accepting deposits for this model. It is expected that the car will be launched to Vietnamese consumers around the end of this year with an estimated selling price of around 800 million VND.
