MacBook Air M3 is easy to disassemble but difficult to reassemble

According to AppleInsider , the lack of glue and tape is a noticeable change from the MacBook Air M3's Intel-era, and the modular components on the product also show that things have changed. The battery compartment is held in place by four pieces of stretchable tape, placed in a U-shape to give repairers the opportunity to pull the tape twice if one side breaks.

MacBook Air M3 has been disassembled

The discovery shows that the MacBook Air M3 has a 52.6 Wh battery in the 13-inch model and a 66.5 Wh battery in the 15-inch model. Both have a simple installation system with stretchable adhesive strips.

As recently discovered by YouTube channel Max Tech , iFixit notes that the base model with 256GB of internal storage is a combination of two 128GB memory chips, applied to both the 13-inch and 15-inch versions. This helps the new product's read/write speed to be faster than its predecessor using the M2 chip.

Interestingly, although users can disassemble the MacBook Air M3 without much difficulty, repairability is still an issue. The reason is that most of the things users want to fix, like RAM or storage, are not replaceable.

Parts reassembly is also an issue. While the Right to Repair bill has prompted Apple to provide disassembly instructions for select components on the MacBook Air M3, other procedures like reassembling parts remain difficult.
