Long Chau and Novo Nordisk support people with diabetes, overweight and obesity

(Dan Tri) - On the morning of August 26, Long Chau pharmacy system and Novo Nordisk signed a comprehensive cooperation strategy, pioneering in caring for patients with diabetes and obesity.

This is an important milestone, connecting the system that owns a network of 2,222 leading pharmacies in Vietnam with the world's leading pharmaceutical group with more than 100 years of operation with the goal of bringing advanced medical achievements, breakthrough solutions in the treatment of diabetes, overweight and obesity, and health awareness programs closer to the community. In addition to the commitment for a healthier Vietnam, the two units expect to contribute to bringing the country's healthcare system closer to international healthcare standards.

Currently, non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer... are the cause of a large disease burden in most countries and regions. These are diseases with high incidence and are the main causes of disability and death in adults.

In Vietnam, about 4 million people had diabetes in 2021 and about 55% of them had serious complications such as cardiovascular, kidney, eye and nerve diseases. At the same time, the rate of overweight and obesity in adults tends to increase, especially in large cities. The rapid increase in obesity rates is directly related to the increased burden and mortality of many non-communicable diseases.

The combination of Novo Nordisk's scientific breakthroughs and Long Chau's technology platform, network of 2,222 pharmacies and 18,000 experienced pharmacists opens up a more comprehensive approach to healthcare, aiming for optimal and long-term treatment results for patients.

Within the framework of cooperation, the two sides will join forces to develop a sustainable healthcare ecosystem, contributing to the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases in Vietnam. At the same time, Long Chau and Novo Nordisk, together with leading medical teams, will join hands to raise public awareness through in-depth education and consulting programs, promote treatment adherence, optimize chronic disease management, especially diabetes and overweight and obesity, thereby contributing to reducing the burden of disease and bringing a healthy, proactive life to patients in Vietnam.
