Grade 10 exam schedule in 2026 of 34 provinces and cities

The 10th grade exam schedule in 2026 will change significantly compared to usual.

The important reason is that the Ministry of Education and Training adjusted the high school graduation exam schedule 2 weeks earlier, to June 11-12.

This is the time when most of the old provinces and cities held the 10th grade exams in the previous school years. Thus, to ensure the organization, the provinces will have to adjust the 10th grade exam schedule to be earlier (late May, early June) or later (late June and July).

The arrangement and reorganization of administrative units from 63 provinces and cities to 34 provinces and cities also changes the admission schedule for the first level because each province and city before the merger had a different school year time frame.

For the 2025-2026 school year, the Ministry requires localities to complete primary school enrollment before July 31, 2026. This means that no province or city will organize the 10th grade exam in late July or August.

Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have traditional 10th grade admission schedules from around the end of the first week to the second week of June.

However, the leader of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that he will advise the city to push the exam schedule for next year about 2 weeks after the high school graduation exam, that is, at the end of June 2026, so that 9th grade students have more time to review.

Ho Chi Minh City after the merger has no specific plan. In 2025, the old Binh Duong province will hold the 10th grade exam on May 28-31. Meanwhile, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and the old Ho Chi Minh City will both hold the exam on June 6-7.

Son La and Can Tho both finalized the 10th grade exam schedule for June 2026 according to the 2025-2026 school year time frame, but there is no specific date yet.

Thanh Hoa, Quang Ninh and Lam Dong (merged from 3 provinces of Dak Nong, Binh Thuan, Lam Dong) are all expected to hold the exam in July 2026. Thanh Hoa has no detailed schedule yet; Quang Ninh has set the schedule for July 3-5, 2026; Lam Dong has the exam earlier, on July 1-3, 2026.

Some provinces and cities have decided to hold the 10th grade exam at the end of May, right after the end of the second semester. Quang Ngai (merged from Kon Tum and Quang Ngai provinces) plans to hold the exam from May 30, 2026 to June 1, 2026.

Tuyen Quang (merged from 2 provinces Tuyen Quang and Ha Giang) will hold the 10th grade entrance exam on May 27-28, 2026.

Similarly, Lai Chau is scheduled to hold the exam on May 25-26, 2026. The additional entrance exam for Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted will take place in August 2026.
