The final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament will witness a fateful match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Indonesia.
Having met in the final in 2023, U23 Vietnam then overcame U23 Indonesia after a tense penalty shootout to win the championship. Two years later, both teams are in the final match again, promising an exciting and emotional rematch.
This is the third consecutive time that U23 Vietnam has participated in a U23 Southeast Asian final. Previously, in the semi-finals, the “Golden Star Warriors” came from behind to win 2-1 against U23 Philippines.
Having lost early, coach Kim Sang-sik's players still played calmly, and then Dinh Bac and Xuan Bac took turns scoring to help the home team have a chance to complete the goal of defending the championship.
Meanwhile, U23 Indonesia faced many difficulties against U23 Thailand. After conceding a goal in the second half, the home team had to wait until the 84th minute to find an equalizer thanks to Jens Raven. The match dragged on into extra time and then a nerve-wracking penalty shootout, where the young Indonesian players showed their mettle and won 7-6.
The upcoming clash between U23 Vietnam and U23 Indonesia is not only the final match of the tournament, but also where the two top teams in the region affirm their position in the regional arena.
