According to the Labor Law, from 2021, the whole country will have an additional holiday on National Day. Depending on the year, the Government chooses the day before or after. This year, the day after is chosen as the day after. This schedule was announced at the end of last year.
Of which, there are 2 National Day holidays according to the Labor Code (September 1 and 2) and 2 weekend days (Saturday and Sunday). Therefore, on these two holidays, employees are off but still receive salary.
Agencies and units that do not have fixed days off on Saturdays and Sundays every week must arrange a suitable holiday schedule based on the specific program and plan of the unit, but must notify at least 30 days in advance.
For the National Day holiday, employers can choose a holiday option including Tuesday, September 2 and one of two days: Monday (September 1) or Wednesday (September 3) depending on actual conditions.
In 2025, officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers will have 22 days off for holidays and Tet, including 11 official days and 11 compensatory and swapped days off.
The September 2nd holiday is the last long holiday of the year. On this occasion, on September 2nd, Vietnam will hold a ceremony and parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day at Ba Dinh Square, Hanoi .
