Doctors removed a total of 153 stones from an Indian patient's right kidney.

CT scans showed numerous kidney stones in the patient's right kidney. Kidney stones that are 2 cm or larger are considered large. However, the largest stone in this male patient was 6.2 cm long and 3.9 cm wide.

Not only that, the man also had diabetes but did not know how to control his blood sugar. Doctors intervened and used medication to stabilize the patient's blood sugar. Then, they performed endoscopic surgery and percutaneous nephrolithotomy to remove all the stones.

Of these, the largest stone was crushed and removed piece by piece. The total number of stones in the man's kidney, including fragments of the large stone, was 153. Their sizes ranged from 2 mm to 10 mm.

People with kidney stones are at high risk of urinary tract infections, kidney damage, and even kidney failure and needing dialysis.

It is currently unclear whether the man has been discharged from the hospital. Local media have also not disclosed his health condition.
