According to Newsweek on August 25, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said that President Trump has outlined America's real goal towards Iran: Submission.
“The current power in America wants Iran to obey America,” Newsweek quoted Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as saying on X network, adding that Tehran has no intention of backing down even as the US and European powers threaten to impose more sanctions.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Trump’s statements and actions were part of a US effort to bring Iran to its knees, calling it a “grave insult” to the country.
"Iran will counter with all its might anyone who has such false expectations," he declared on August 24.
Iran's supreme leader also rejected calls for direct dialogue with Washington, saying the current problem with the US was "unsolvable" through negotiations alone.
Iran is locked in a tense standoff with the US and other Western powers over the future of its nuclear enrichment programme. Tensions have risen and diplomacy has stalled following US and Israeli air strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June, with President Trump threatening further strikes if Iran does not change course.
Tehran says its military is on high alert amid fears of further attacks on the country as a fragile ceasefire with Israel holds.
Earlier, on August 7, President Trump wrote on Truth Social : “Now that Iran’s nuclear arsenal has been completely destroyed, it is important that all Middle Eastern nations join the Abraham Accords. This will ensure peace in the Middle East.”
