Spreading the word on World Youth Skills Day 2024

The General Department of Vocational Education ( Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs ) has just issued a document guiding vocational training institutions and vocational skills assessment organizations to respond to World Youth Skills Day 2024.

Ten years ago, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously decided to mark July 15 as World Youth Skills Day.

With the theme of World Youth Skills Day 2024 being “Youth Skills for Peace and Development”, vocational education institutions need to focus on equipping young people with skills and opportunities, helping them proactively enter the labor market, start a business, develop their careers, and contribute to a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable future.

The General Department of Vocational Education recommends that vocational education institutions and vocational skills assessment organizations organize propaganda and dissemination activities to raise awareness of the meaning, role and value of vocational education, develop vocational skills for students, promote creativity, and ensure fairness, progress and social security.

Vocational training institutions, based on the actual situation, organize activities to respond to, promote propaganda and spread World Youth Skills Day 2024, ensuring practicality in training and developing vocational skills for young people, focusing on work-study, distance learning, self-study, helping workers, especially rural workers and disadvantaged workers, improve their vocational skills.

At the same time, develop training plans and develop vocational skills for young workers according to business needs; coordinate with businesses to recruit, employ, and pay wages and salaries to students and graduates based on their skills and professional capacity.

In addition, strengthen and expand international cooperation on vocational skills development for youth to gain more resources and experience in developing and implementing policies and programs on vocational skills development, and access international standards, in order to improve the quality of human resources and the mobility of young human resources in the domestic and international labor markets.
