Lam Dong: Less than 20% of pesticide waste is collected

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province, the whole province currently has over 1 million hectares of land for growing agricultural crops. Every year, the use of pesticides to prevent, combat and control pests and diseases of crops generates about 276 tons of pesticide packages. However, the rate of collection and treatment is currently only 18.9%.

According to decentralization, from July 1, 2025 to present, implementing the 2-level local government model, the organization of collection and treatment is the responsibility of the People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones.

The rate of collection and disposal of used pesticide packaging in Lam Dong is only 18.9%.

To strengthen the management of waste sources arising from agricultural production activities, especially pesticide packaging, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requests the People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones to effectively direct the implementation of short-term and long-term solutions.

Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Environment aims to achieve 80% of the collection and disposal of pesticide packaging in accordance with regulations by 2030. The collection, transportation and disposal of pesticide packaging in the area will be funded from the local environmental budget.
