A lovely memory
During the time of working with Dong Khoi Newspaper, many contributors had unforgettable memories. So, from his youth until his tenure as Provincial Party Secretary, Mr. Vo Thanh Hao has appeared on Dong Khoi Newspaper as a “heavyweight” contributor for many decades.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), Mr. Vo Thanh Hao recounted: June 21 brings back unforgettable memories of my time with the Dong Khoi Newspaper staff when I was in the army. At that time, I was a contributor to Dong Khoi Newspaper like many other contributors but was "favored" more. Because I was at the northern border. Mr. Nam Thong, Mr. Sau Dung, journalist Bich Thuy, journalist Thanh Sanh, especially Mr. Nguyen Minh and Ms. Mai Hoa always took care of me as if I were a family member whenever I had a chance to come home on leave.
I still remember the first time we met, Nguyen Minh asked me: What do you crave when you're out? I said: Boiled apple snails!
So he took me down to the Ben Tre riverbank, where there was an outdoor restaurant selling snails. He treated me to boiled snails with lemongrass and… rice wine! After drinking two glasses, I returned to the editorial office that night and threw up all three snails! Ms. Mai Hoa diligently cleaned up. Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Minh sat smoking tobacco and laughing dryly. Oh! What a wonderful time!
The press is a place to express feelings.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, we met Mr. Tran Cong Ngu (Vu Hoang) - former Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Association for Supporting Poor Patients to hear his feelings about the years he wrote articles for Dong Khoi Newspaper. Mr. Tran Cong Ngu said: I have a deep attachment to Dong Khoi Newspaper (formerly Chien Thang Newspaper). Because this is an information channel that closely reflects the local situation, the revolutionary movement and the process of building the homeland after liberation. I did not receive formal training in journalism, but with my faith, emotions and love for my homeland, I have sent many articles, especially on the occasion of major holidays such as Ben Tre Dong Khoi Day January 17, Nguyen Dinh Chieu's birthday July 1, Southern Liberation Day April 30... For me, the press is a place to express my feelings and gratitude for my homeland and national history.

Recalling the years of revolutionary activities in the province, Mr. Tran Cong Ngu shared about the role of journalists during the war. Wartime journalists were considered soldiers, always ready to face hardships and dangers. They not only wrote, but also lived on the battlefield, sometimes even in dangerous situations like real soldiers. Strong ethics and ideology were the survival conditions for journalists at that time. Regarding the events of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), Mr. Tran Cong Ngu said that the solemn organization was worthy and necessary, not only to pay tribute to history but also to arouse the national spirit, aiming to build the country in a period of peace and development.
Until now, Mr. Tran Cong Ngu, despite his old age, still follows information through Dong Khoi Newspaper, the Internet... and always wants to contribute with his knowledge, emotions and what he can.
Press releases attract readers
Journalist Bui Kim Lien is a professional writer. Her journalism career is closely linked to her time working at Ben Tre Radio and Television. She had many colleagues at Dong Khoi Newspaper, from when she was still working until her retirement. “We often shared information while working, especially for major events in the province. Ben Tre Radio and Television regularly selected good articles from Dong Khoi Newspaper to broadcast. We had many memories during the decades of working together, supporting each other in journalism and cherishing each other as friends,” Ms. Bui Kim Lien recalled.

In 2019, Ms. Bui Kim Lien won first prize in the contest “Land and People of Ben Tre Today” organized by Dong Khoi Newspaper. The contest brought her emotions. According to her, this award affirmed the role of the journalistic genre in the breath of life and inspired new creations from readers.
Sharing her feelings with Dong Khoi Newspaper, journalist Bui Kim Lien stated: Journalistic reports will always be a genre that attracts readers' attention - after skimming through the news page of Dong Khoi Newspaper, people will immediately open the inside page or link to a familiar corner to find something that speaks to them more!
Journalist Bui Kim Lien shared that the Dong Khoi Newspaper Editorial Board had many breakthrough ideas when focusing all its efforts on major events or the spring newspaper. There, many good reports, many essays, short stories... by many famous authors inside and outside the province have contributed to enhancing the beauty and stature of the newspaper. In addition, the modern and airy layout has helped the newspaper become luxurious and attractive.
There are still many “loyal” contributors of Dong Khoi Newspaper, but they cannot be recorded and conveyed to the newspaper. A century of journalism has passed and many beautiful images of Ben Tre journalists still remain in the hearts of contributors and readers to this day. This is truly precious and warm.
