Firm in goals, flexible in strategies, Party's will blends with people's will

Attending and giving a speech at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam reiterated, 80 years ago, during the earth-shattering historical days, under the Party's flag, the entire nation rose up to take control of its own destiny. The young revolutionary government was born amid countless difficulties: internal and external enemies, famine and illiteracy were rampant, and the treasury was empty.

However, it was in that harshness that the steely mettle of a Government of the people, by the people, for the people was forged. Enlightened farmers, workers, and intellectuals "rolled up their sleeves" to build a new State on the foundation of national independence and the aspiration for freedom and happiness. Since the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, many generations of Government leaders, from the Central to the grassroots, have entered a challenging and difficult period, where everything was bewildering and difficult. "Comrades are both national administrators and soldiers on the front lines of governance and protection of the peaceful lives of the people, institutional architects and master craftsmen who built the first institutions of a socialist rule-of-law State in extremely harsh conditions," the General Secretary stated.

The General Secretary emphasized that the Government's precious traditions can be summed up in a few words: Courage - Discipline - Solidarity - Integrity - Action - Creativity - Efficiency - For the people.

Courage to stand firm in the face of change; discipline to keep the system running smoothly; unity is strength; integrity to keep the people's hearts; action to turn resolutions into reality; creativity to overcome challenges; efficiency to improve the quality of people's lives; for the people so that all policies seek the ultimate goal of happiness and prosperity for every Vietnamese person.

On behalf of the Party, State and people, the General Secretary expressed gratitude to generations of leaders of the Government and Government agencies through the periods, those who contributed sweat, blood, youth and even their lives to build the national administration and governance; respectfully remembered the comrades who have passed away, the heroes, martyrs, and predecessors who devoted their whole lives to the Fatherland.

General Secretary To Lam said that in the revolutionary process, to have today, we cannot fail to mention the merits and contributions of the members of the Government. Each stage of the journey is imbued with the mark of solidarity, intelligence and discipline; steadfast in goals, flexible in strategies; the Party's will blends with the people's heart. Being proud of the tradition, honoring the achievements of the past 80 years and in the current turning point, we need to act in the spirit of offensive revolution as our predecessors did.

General Secretary To Lam hopes that, regardless of the circumstances, veteran revolutionaries, former leaders of the Government, ministries, ministerial-level agencies and agencies under the Government through the periods will continue to accompany the current Government: give frank and constructive comments, inspire and support the young generation, spread good values; continue to write, continue to exchange, continue to listen and pass on the "art of national governance" that has been forged through a lifetime of dedication; continue to be a "warm fire" so that each cadre today, in the most difficult times, still remembers the path and walks firmly.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam wished the veteran revolutionaries, former leaders of the Government, ministries, branches, and agencies under the Government through the periods, and the delegates good health, longevity, happiness, and a happy and healthy life to witness the achievements of the revolution and the Vietnamese people when the country celebrates 100 years under the leadership of the Party and 100 years of National Day.
