Earn billions from trash, dried bananas, basa fish skin

On October 7, the closing ceremony of the program "Incubation of innovative startups in 2023" took place in Ben Tre with 10 projects receiving the highest evaluation to have the opportunity to approach (pitch) experts and investors.

The program is organized by the Center for Investment Promotion and Startup of Ben Tre province in coordination with the Vietnam Science and Technology Enterprise Startup Fund within the framework of the Ben Tre Innovation Festival 2023 taking place on October 6-7.

Ms. Le Thi Thanh Truc attended the program with the startup project "Modernizing the collection and recycling of plastic waste". With modern processes and machinery, Ms. Truc's model is currently collecting over 100 tons of waste in Ben Tre each month, turning waste into resources and partially solving the local environmental problem.

With initial effectiveness, Ms. Truc plans to expand the model throughout the Western provinces in the near future.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc An has taken advantage of the abundant banana resources in Ben Tre to produce solar-dried bananas since 2019. Currently, Ms. An's products have been exported to many countries and are highly appreciated by customers.

Ms. An's model not only solves the output of agricultural products but also solves the need for local employment.

Starting with 2 million VND in salted crab business, Ms. Pham Thi Moi in Soc Trang suddenly realized the great commercial potential of local products. Since 2019, Ms. Moi has expanded her business with many products, especially purple onions, hiring many idle local workers.

Up to now, Ms. Moi's business model has had billions in revenue each year.

Among the 10 most highly rated projects of the program are also start-up models producing functional foods from basa fish skin and coconut waste.

After the pitching session, startup project managers, experts and investors met to discuss cooperation.

According to the organizers, the program: "Incubation of startups and innovation" aims to support startup ideas and projects in the product development and testing phase. Through the program, products will be built to meet market demand and develop into potential innovative businesses in the future.

The "Business and Investor" Pitching activity creates an opportunity for important elements in the startup and innovation ecosystem to converge, connect trade, connect financial support resources and invest in projects.

By participating in the program, young entrepreneurs will receive advice from experts and participate in free training courses.

Ben Tre Innovation Festival 2023 with the theme "Innovation from the heart - reaching out to the big sea", includes many activities such as: Ben Tre province's Startup Competition 2023; summary of the Women's Startup Competition with the theme "Women starting a business, promoting local talents" in 2023; Pitching businesses and investors; Green Innovation Tour; displaying and introducing innovation and digital transformation models...

The event was attended by about 200 businesses, startup support organizations and experts from across the country.

Mr. Nguyen Truc Son - Vice Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee - said that this is an activity to connect businesses in the province and units outside the province. From there, it attracts resources for innovative start-up activities in Ben Tre province.
