VHO - On the occasion of the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), on the morning of May 14, 2025, the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace held a ceremony to receive the flower vase artifact respectfully donated by Mr. Vu Thanh Tung's family.
The President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace is a special national relic where President Ho Chi Minh lived and worked during the last 15 years of his life (1954–1969).
After more than 55 years of conservation activities, the Relic Site has made constant efforts in the work of preserving and maintaining heritages for a long time; at the same time, it focuses on research and collection to enrich documents and artifacts serving the work of displaying andeducating heritages and spreading the values of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style to the people and international friends.
Standing out in the complex of relics is Uncle Ho’s Stilt House – the central relic, where he lived and worked during the last years of his life. The stilt house is not only a symbol of a noble and simple lifestyle, but also becomes a red address, a place where the sacred sentiments of compatriots across the country and overseas Vietnamese converge.
Every relic, every corner of space here is imbued with the breath of history, fostering patriotism, revolutionary will and the desire for independence and freedom for the nation.
The vase artifact donated by Mr. Vu Thanh Tung's family to the Relic Site is an artifact of special value, and is an artifact that, along with the vase, is currently being preserved and displayed at Uncle Ho's Stilt House - the place where President Ho Chi Minh lived during the last 11 years of his life (1958 - 1969).
The vase is made of transparent white glass, octagonal shape, flared mouth. From the mouth to the bottom of the vase, there are 8 raised edges forming 8 equal segments. The bottom two sides are embossed with leaves and two birds. Vase height: 25cm, pedestal height: 1.2cm, mouth φ: 16.5cm, bottom φ: 12.5cm.
During his lifetime, the vase was placed on the desk of the second floor bedroom of President Ho Chi Minh's stilt house to display flowers from the garden. He loved nature and lived close to trees, flowers and leaves. Therefore, around the stilt house where he lived, in addition to fruit trees, timber trees and ornamental plants, there were also many species of flowers such as jasmine, magnolia, magnolia, flamboyant, rose orchid...
Each flower has its own color, fragrance, and beauty, evoking memories of his beloved homeland. Flowers with a simple and familiar fragrance in the garden were often picked by his comrades to put in his office.
The artifact that Mr. Vu Thanh Tung donated this time is a flower vase that has been preserved by his family for many generations. “This vase was left to the family by his grandfather, with the same design, material and pattern as the vase that Uncle Ho used at the Stilt House. With love for Uncle Ho, the family donated it to the Relic Site so that the artifact can be preserved, displayed and its value promoted,” Mr. Tung shared.
Expressing his sincere gratitude for the sentiments and artifacts donated by Mr. Vu Thanh Tung's family, Mr. Nguyen Van Duong, Deputy Director of the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace, expressed that the reception of the artifacts not only contributes to enriching the collection of valuable artifacts at the Relic Site, but is also a vivid demonstration of the love and respect of generations of Vietnamese people for President Ho Chi Minh and the cause of preserving the national cultural heritage.
“The Relic Site hopes to continue receiving attention and contributions from individuals and organizations at home and abroad to join hands in preserving and enriching the treasure trove of precious heritage, contributing to educating traditions and spreading the noble values of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style to today's and future generations,” Mr. Nguyen Van Duong emphasized.
