Hoa Lac High-Tech Park to Hanoi

VnExpressVnExpress01/08/2023

Hoa Lac High-Tech Park was handed over to Hanoi for management from August 1, with science and technology functions.

According to Resolution No. 119 signed and issued by the Government on August 1, Hoa Lac High-Tech Park under the management of the Ministry of Science and Technology was handed over to the Hanoi People's Committee. The Government requested the Hanoi People's Committee to receive the organization, operations, tasks, public investment projects...

According to the Resolution, the Hoa Lac High-Tech Park Management Board continues to use funds and implement tasks according to the approved budget plan until an adjustment decision is made.

Previously, at the regular press conference of the second quarter, Ms. Pham Thi Van Anh, acting Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel, Ministry of Science and Technology, said that the transfer did not disrupt the operations of the Management Board nor affect the high-tech park.

Since its establishment, the planning of Hoa Lac High-Tech Park has been adjusted twice (1st time: 2008). Currently, the Park is implementing the general planning adjustment (2nd time, 2016) until 2030.

Unlike normal industrial parks, high-tech parks are oriented to become science and technology cities where human resource training, technology incubation and innovation activities are concentrated.

Vietnam currently has three high-tech zones. Hoa Lac High-Tech Zone was established in 1998, in Thach That and Quoc Oai districts (formerly Ha Tay province, now part of Hanoi ) and is the only high-tech zone not directly under the local government.

After many planning adjustments, Hoa Lac High-Tech Park currently has a scale of nearly 1,600 hectares, built according to the model of a scientific city with full facilities and functional areas. The population size is forecast to be 229,000 by 2030, of which the permanent population is about 99,300. By May 2023, the total cleared area is 1,410 hectares.
