The row of bright red bougainvillea flowers in front of the house gate, the garden of fruit trees all year round, the happy laughter of the elderly and children... All paint a peaceful, lively picture of the livable countryside in Ky Hoa commune (Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh ).
Ky Hoa is a commune located in the northwest of Ky Anh town, with 1,650 households and more than 6,000 people; the main occupation is agriculture and forestry; the average income per capita reaches more than 47 million/person/year. In 2018, the commune met the NTM standards, then started building advanced NTM and has so far completed 19/20 criteria.
The NTM “revolution” not only changes the appearance and infrastructure but also changes the people’s mindset. Instead of building a new rural area with “closed gates and high walls”, in many villages of Ky Hoa commune, people cleverly “built” green fences with tea trees...
Mr. Pham Vu Quang, Hoa Thang village, Ky Hoa commune shared: "I planted this fence since Ky Hoa commune started building the new rural area (in 2016) to replace the concrete fence, both to create a landscape and regulate the air. For me, making a fence with green trees not only adds beauty to the house but also contributes to creating a unique feature in building the new rural area in the locality...".
Mr. Nguyen Tien Ha, Hoa Thang village, Ky Hoa commune shared: "My family's garden was recognized as a town-level model garden in 2020. Currently, the garden has more than 100 grapefruit trees, nearly 50 lychee trees and many other fruit trees... NTM has helped me and many other people change their thinking about developing household garden economy and together build a livable countryside...".

The flower trellises are blooming in the new sunlight, on the spacious streets and alleys have become places for the elderly to chat.

Ky Hoa is focusing on completing the unachieved criteria, building new rural areas in the direction of urban civilization development. Improving the quality of model new rural residential areas, replicating model gardens; paying attention to education, culture, political stability, social order and security, environment and increasing income for people.
