Việt NamViệt Nam10/05/2024

On May 9, Thai Nguyen Provincial Police announced that the Provincial Police Investigation Agency had just prosecuted 8 subjects for the crime of "Extortion of property", with the trick of borrowing names, impersonating collaborators and reporters of some newspapers and magazines to threaten others to appropriate property.

The eight defendants include: Do Manh Dung (born in 1984); Dao Van The (born in 1980); Hoang Van Huu (born in 1991); Vu Hoang Binh (born in 1987); Dao Dinh Luyen (born in 1977); Nguyen Viet Kien (born in 1985); Do Van Hung (born in 1981); Luu Van Tuyen (born in 1968), all residing in Thai Nguyen province.

According to the investigation agency, the subjects forged their degrees and used them to apply to become collaborators and reporters for a number of newspapers and magazines. After that, these people went to agencies, businesses, organizations, and business households... under the name of reporters and collaborators of newspapers and magazines to collect information related to the operations, business, and production of those establishments.

When finding loopholes and shortcomings of the facilities, the subjects put pressure and hint to the facilities to clearly or implicitly know that if they do not give money, they will be reported to the local authorities and written articles reflecting on them in the press.

Because of fear that information published in the press would affect operations, business, and production, the establishments had to give money to the subjects.

The subjects organize activities in inter-district and inter-provincial groups, exchanging information about the facilities with each other. When a subject takes money from any facility, he will inform other subjects so that they can continue to go to that facility, putting pressure on reporters and collaborators of other newspapers and magazines to extort property.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Thai Nguyen Provincial Police is continuing to investigate and clarify the case.
