(NLDO)- The Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway has a total length from Lao Cai station to Lach Huyen station (Hai Phong) of more than 388 km, with 36 stations.


On February 4, the working delegation of the National Assembly's Economic Committee led by Vice Chairman Nguyen Minh Son conducted a field survey of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway construction investment project at Lach Huyen Port railway station, Hai Phong.

The Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway has a total main line length from Lao Cai station to Lach Huyen port station of more than 388 km, 36 stations; of which the section passing through Hai Phong city includes: the main line is more than 46 km long and 2 branch lines from Nam Hai Phong station - Nam Do Son station; Nam Dinh Vu station - Dinh Vu station is 20.5 km long. The design speed of the main line is 160 km/h; the branch line is 80 km/h.

In terms of technical level, the project is invested as a grade 1 railway, double track, gauge 1,435 mm; The main line design speed is under 200 km/h. The section through the Hanoi hub area, the design speed is 120 km/h. The connecting sections, branch lines, the design speed is 80 km/h.

The operating speed of the first phase of the single track is 160 km/h for passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight trains. Preliminary calculations show that the total investment of the project is about 194,929 billion VND (equivalent to more than 8 billion USD).

According to the design, the section in Hai Phong city has 6 stations, including: Nam Hai Phong station (mixed station, train formation); Tan Vien station and Nam Dinh Vu station (technical station); Nam Dinh Vu stations; Lach Huyen port station, Nam Do Son station, Dinh Vu station (mixed station, pre-port).

Recently, Hai Phong City has coordinated with the Ministry of Transport to prepare a project pre-feasibility study report.

In the survey, Hai Phong City proposed the National Assembly's Economic Committee and the Ministry of Transport to study and consider investing in the section from Nam Hai Phong station to Nam Do Son station and the Nam Do Son station project to be implemented in phase 1, completed before 2030; study technical solutions and current land use status so that the route runs parallel to and closely follows the Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway and Tan Vu - Lach Huyen highway according to the orientation of the General Planning of Hai Phong City to 2040, with a vision to 2050.

According to the plan, along with the actual survey at Lach Huyen port station, the working group will survey Yen Vien station (Hanoi), the new Lao Cai station and work with related provinces and cities in Lao Cai province.
