On June 19, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province announced that it had agreed with the proposal of the Department of Education and Training on implementing two-session teaching per day. Accordingly, after a thorough review of the actual conditions at 265 schools across the province, 100% of primary schools are ready to implement from the next school year, while secondary schools will implement according to a specific roadmap.
According to a detailed report from the Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training, 145 primary schools with more than 109,000 students have fully met the requirements for facilities and teaching staff. However, the story at the secondary level is much more complicated.
In the 2025-2026 school year, Khanh Hoa province's secondary schools will start with 50% of schools meeting the conditions for teaching 2 sessions/day.

120 secondary schools in Khanh Hoa with nearly 82,000 students are facing a teacher/class ratio of only 1.85 - lower than the prescribed standard of 1.9. In particular, facilities are still limited as the classroom/class ratio is only 0.85, not meeting the minimum requirement of 1 room/class to implement the new model.
According to the leaders of the Department of Education and Training, in the 2025-2026 school year, the secondary school level will start with 50% of schools meeting the requirements. The Department will coordinate with the Department of Home Affairs and relevant agencies to staff the required number of teachers/classes. In addition, it will invest in facilities, classrooms, and teaching staff to gradually increase the number of schools to 70% in the 2026-2027 school year and by 2030, 100% of secondary schools will teach 2 sessions/day.

The 2-session/day teaching model promises to create fundamental changes in education. Instead of only 1 session with a maximum of 5 lessons, students will study a maximum of 8 lessons/day, of which no more than 5 lessons in the morning and no more than 3 lessons in the afternoon.
Notably, the extra time will not only be spent on core subjects but also on a variety of educational activities such as life skills education, STEM, traffic safety, culture and arts, and physical education. This is an opportunity for students to develop comprehensively, not only in knowledge but also in practical life skills.
Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee requested departments and branches to urgently review and supplement facilities according to national standards. At the same time, the recruitment and transfer of teachers must be carried out flexibly, ensuring correctness, sufficiency and quality.
